Like I said, it is suburbia, so the river is fake/man-made. Hardly any fishing going on there.

Well, today, for the first time in my life, I have had to abandon my car for fear of killing someone. I made it as far as Chorleywood before seeing a school bus jackknife in the road, an Astra plough straight through someone's front garden and a 4 x 4 hurtle out of control downhill towards a parade of shops. The driver managed to stuff it into a small wall away from the pedestrians so no one got hurt in the end.

Funny thing was i wasn't scared for myself at all, it was the dozens of school kids milling around who could have been absolutely flattened at any moment that scared the hell out of me. They were actually very helpful to us poor, sad motorists. Everyone is posh in Chorleywood, which is why I am not allowed to live there :. A lot of the young school lads helped push cars off the icy roads onto the verge so we could try to get things moving. No luck though.

I must admit, today has caught me out. The councils are stock piling the grit so we can make it last the rest of the winter. Shame they didn't spread a little of it on the school run roads. I hope they have enough in the budget for shovels

Good call, dude. We got rear-ended a few years back at a traffic light. No-one was seriously hurt but there was a mother and child on the crossing when it happened. I often wonder how badly our lives would have changed had we gone over them.

The hill down the road from my house has turned into a graveyard for articulated lorries. There was 4 of them stuck there when I foolishly drove to the station this morning...total waste of time no trains to be had, then had a nightmare drive back home. Another day snowed in. Its getting really old now :.

Sounds smashing, chaps. We have had a heatwave here, 35 to 45 degree's for a few days. It knocked the sh*t out of me. We are in for a warm summer. Mind you we had a long cold winter (by Aussie standards) too.

The hill behind my folks house has a huge gutter running along it and mid winter it claims a car probably every day. They all wind up in the gutter. Its not the roads fault, its the drivers. Like the old man says, if 2 tyres can't get traction, 4 won't either. A lot of tourists with a false sense of security seem to be the major problem, they think a 4wd will solve everything. Its bloody steep and when it REALLY snows you can't drive on it. Dad walks to work in that case and usually passes cars while doing it. Chains is the only real answer.

My sisters car had 2 cars hit it last winter too, they rolled down the hill after the ice had formed on the road. They were parked. The trick is to turn the wheels into the curb so it won't roll. Dad actually saw one hit. Needless to say he moved well out of the way. Some people are just plain dumb.

Hope you fellers thaw out soon, plenty of sun here if you want it. ;-)

All we have now is constant rain and some snow in the North of the island.
