Well, today, for the first time in my life, I have had to abandon my car for fear of killing someone. I made it as far as Chorleywood before seeing a school bus jackknife in the road, an Astra plough straight through someone's front garden and a 4 x 4 hurtle out of control downhill towards a parade of shops. The driver managed to stuff it into a small wall away from the pedestrians so no one got hurt in the end.
Funny thing was i wasn't scared for myself at all, it was the dozens of school kids milling around who could have been absolutely flattened at any moment that scared the hell out of me. They were actually very helpful to us poor, sad motorists. Everyone is posh in Chorleywood, which is why I am not allowed to live there

A lot of the young school lads helped push cars off the icy roads onto the verge so we could try to get things moving. No luck though.
I must admit, today has caught me out. The councils are stock piling the grit so we can make it last the rest of the winter. Shame they didn't spread a little of it on the school run roads. I hope they have enough in the budget for shovels
