Re: Toltoys
So am I right in thinking that toltoys was like a antipodean version of our own beloved Palitoy then ?, I Know they sold Star Wars Figures aswell as Action Man, did they just sell re-packaged stuff or did they make thier own A.M. uniforms, like say a ANZAC?
I find toy history like this fascinating..

Re: Toltoys
Bang on the money Tshot, they were exactly the same scenario as Palitoy's Action Force, but with AM packaging and US bio's. They were just Hasbro repackages, and the Star Wars figures were Kenner repackages. 3 3/4 AM only lasted about 2 years and there were no figures released bar the ones I mentioned. Its one reason I get so excited about Destro, CC, Baroness etc. I've never even seen them before, they were never sold here. Got em all bar CC v1 nowThundershot wrote:So am I right in thinking that toltoys was like a antipodean version of our own beloved Palitoy then ?, I Know they sold Star Wars Figures aswell as Action Man, did they just sell re-packaged stuff or did they make thier own A.M. uniforms, like say a ANZAC?

There were slightly different AM uniforms, they had less in em is really the only thing. Towards the end of AM there were Palitoy imports tho, not Toltoys rebadges. Like my Luftwaffe uniform. I got the MP, Commando (sten gun not the M60), Basic soldier, Tank Commander, British infantryman (which had considerably less) and Helicopter Pilot. There were some uniforms that were the same but packaged differently, for example the Tom Stone outfit was sold as green beret/Royal marines or something like it. I have a couple of uniforms I've not seen on AMHQ too. The SAS one was available as was Beachhead assault. My memory of AM is a bit sketchy, but like the 3 3/4'ers there is f*ck all info anywhere, in fact I'd go so far as to say f*ck less info.
I'll post some pics of my Toltoys VAM uniforms if you like?

I'll let you all know what it looks like up close
I didn't actually win the item, but a close friend who lives here in town did. He's excited to get it and he already says how nice it will look next to his AM Rock N Roll......damn him......

The mere fact that a flamethrower even exists is proof that someone once said to themselves: "You know, I'd like to set that guy over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough".

Aw sh*t man, you don't know how jealous I am. I've just been prompted to get into the Toltoys AM history now... it has begun. I don't care where or how but I plan to get something on the web. Could you ask your mate for a high res scan of the back and close up of the front? I plan to recreate all the original packaging. I can still remember what the bulk of it was like.volleydan wrote:I'll let you all know what it looks like up close![]()

Jealous, Jealous, Jealous, Jealous. I'm pleased your mate is excited, that was a bloody cheap price. I never ever saw a straight arm variant in Toltoys AM packaging and always assumed they were all swivel arms. Can you confirm if it is straight arm or not?

Re: Toltoys
I just saw this thread (ah late night browsing ...
I've been working on sorting out convention stuff all day (well for weeks really) and I needed a change of scenery
I always love to visit BFTB!!!!! But I almost never look at the sales section I am glad I did today!
Nice to see Toltoys stuff available! I think the auction title may have had it wrong though - The waist piece appears to be the '83 version - which would make it a swivel arm. As Chopper indicated, I think swivel arm is the way they came.
Paul, hope this picture is OK (I took it quite a while ago - I can take a better one of just the Toltoys Action Man, if anyone would like me to):

As for the 12" Toltoys stuff, the vast majority was based on Palitoy Action Man stuff - but, just as Chopper mentioned, there often were several differences in outfits and accessories. Earlier Aussie Kenbrite figures also sometimes included US GI Joe bodies.
Dan, congrats to your friend!

Holy cow. Yes please mate, lotsa Action Man pics. PM me if you like I don't care how big those images are, I'd love to see them. Any chance of some back scans? Close ups?
OMFG you have the HAL there too. Its like Toltoys heaven. Wow.
I'm glad I'm not going mental too, I thought they were all swivel arms.
