Re: Toltoys
Oh sh*t, oh sh*t, oh sh*t. That figure was the very FIRST figure I ever bought. All Joes sold in OZ and NZ were packaged for Toltoys by Hasbro under the Action Man name. There were no AF or Joe at all and not all of the initial figures were released. Only Breaker, Rock'n Roll, Scarlett, Snake Eye's, Cobra, Cobra Officer, Zap, Short Fuse, Grunt, Flash and Stalker. There were also vehicles which had figures, Grand Slam - silver pads (with the HAL), Hawk (with the MMS), Clutch (with the VAMP). The vehicles available without figures were the FANG, FLAK, JUMP and I think the RAM too. That was it. You can see what was available from the back pic on ebay.
Basically they were all Wave 1 figures, BUT swivel arms only (if this guy is a straight arm it would be MEGA SUPER DOOPER INCREDIBLE RARE). No mail ins were available until the Hasbro Gi Joe figures were available in 1986, after Toltoys folded. So between 1983 and 1986 there was nothing in NZ besides wave 1. Which is why any of the 84-85 figures are rarer than rocking horse sh*t here. I do remember seeing a USS FLAGG pretty early and can't remember what year that was. I am VERY sure it was badged GI Joe tho and not Action Man. There were no MOBATS or Skystrikers or APC's. It was pretty barren here.
I remember walking into the local toy store and seeing mini Action Men and thought how cool they were. I'd been reading Battle for a while before then too, the AF appeared and the slippery slope began.
What I just typed is probably the most comprehensive history of NZ/Aussie Joes on the net. f*cking sad really. What I'd really love to do as add a Toltoys section to BFTB and get a bit more into the history. It was a big part of my childhood.
Anyway I'd reckon that figure is worth over $1000us as a Joe rarity, I've seen swivel arms go for around that in Toltoys packaging. Wish I'd kept all my boxes now. I got all the individual figures except Zap(got all still, bar Breaker, Hawk and Short Fuse) and the FLAK, MMS and FANG.
Happy days. Wish I could afford that figure. BTW SteveD has sourced a Breaker 1.5 figure, I still have the original guys gear, and I'm really stoked beyond words to be getting Toltoys era stuff again.

Damn! Got there too late! Wou;d have loved that item! Teach me for being AWOL on weekends! Never mind, I guess that's saved me some cash!
Chopper - Breaker should be on his way to me in the next day or two, so hopefully winging his way to you soon (Mr Tree allowing!)

Re: Toltoys
the part i love the most about that repack is that despite them swapping 'Action Man' for 'GI Joe' they still put a stars-and-stripes on the flag point.

This AM Breaker figure is a very interesting one!
The AM logo looks totally great imo...
I was expecting to see 'actionfigguy' as the winner of this one, but it wasn't so I guess Mrs Devon already has this one tucked away in the archives...
Aire, if you read this, any chance of a pic or two of some toltoys stuff to accompany Chopper's very interesting bio....

A forum member has Action Man figures? I plan to make some repro cards for these guys, that ebay pic is pretty helpful and I should be able to knock out some accurate repro's but more pics would be bloody great.
Baron, any chance of some web spare to host a Bio for AM figures? I'll code the page's if need be and I promise I'll get more of the Kraken done

BTW, I'm VERY surprised how cheap that guy went. I have seen them break 1k.
