No one really knows the true origins of Captain Zargon, only legends whisper his name and evil exploits. It was said he haunted the spaceways in his ghost vessel plundering passing traders. Tales spoke of his bristling weaponry that could rip a ship to shreds in seconds, only to have his ever present mecha parrot swoop in and murder any unfortunate survivors.

But Rom became too related to the Marvel universe to still fit in the Hasbroverse...

Rom was marketed (by Palitoy) as a member of Action-man's Space Ranger team here in the U.K.
Their main enemy was the Space Pirate 'Captain Zargon' &, for traitorous Action-men, you could also buy a Zargonite Soldier outfit .

I'd certainly not heard of or seen the Marvel comic as a kid in the 70's.
