End of year Achievements in the hobby/Next years goals?

Post by Graham_UK »

Hey all! Finally I've found a moment to start a thread about everyones yearly achievments in the hobby. Just thought it may be a nice way to end the year :-)

Over the last 2 (and a bit) years I've gone from having nothing to having all but 14 figures and 25 vehicals/accessories from the GI Joe line from 82-90. I truly never thought it'd grow into this collection that I have.

This last year my main aim was saving for my wedding back in September but there was WAY too much stuff that I kept getting offered and seeing on feebay. The year for me started with me scoring from France a nice Sears Missile command, than a Sears Sentry and several of the 82 straight arms. I now have all but 3 (Actually 4 as I need a nice LT Falcon) Nightforce figures. All the Euro TF figures, Python Patrol, Slaughters Marauders, and 4 of the 5 Special mission: Brazil set.

Next year I'm going to aim to complete the Nightforce figures and hopefully bag several of the easier to get vehicals. But you know me :-)

This year I wasn't able to reach my goal, to get at least on argen 7 figure(in c7 or higher condition, complete unless manleh, without parachute). Financially it just wasn't feasible this year. I almost got a c7 or c8 redmack, 100% complete, ended up being the second highest bidder, somewhere in the $425-ish range. Hopefully this next year I can do so, but I'm not gonna old my breath. What I'm currently trying to do is get every foreign version of the skystriker, that'll probably be what I pursue for the next year, if I'm lucky enough to find a rubiplas skystriker for sale.

Some more German MOC would be nice. But the priority is sorting and displaying my collection.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

Firstly, well done to everyone who got what they wanted this year. I hope you enjoy your goodies!

I didn't start out with any particular goals regarding AF stuff, as I fell back in love with Star Wars!

This year has seen the very near completion of my vintage Star Wars figure collection, with the arrival of EV9D9 last week only a Blue Snaggletooth left to get!

Next year, my goal is to finally get a glass display cabinet!!!

I have to admit, I was gutted when I sold my Vintage collection back in 2000 but I'm actually scared when I see the repro weapons that are in the mix! It scares me off buying any unless they're from a childhood collection.

Pics please, Shaun. :-)

Display cabinets is high on my list too. No goals, just keep plodding along here. Down to so little now I can see Star Wars looming on the horizon. Where to put it all when I have no room for what I have......
Let me tell you, Gunner La-De-Dah Graham, the British Army can fight anything! Intimate or not!

My Goal is to secure either a nice condition Defiant or a Terror drome to sit pretty next to my newly obtained USS Flagg :)
I would also love a Funskool Superhero figure.

I am sure next year will be another expensive one, this habit is getting beyond a joke!!!
Not here for a long time, just here for a good time.

I'm going to wait until Retaliation comes out to see what figures are available to us. Other than that wait and see what the GIJCC comes up with next besides Iceberg.
Spock, where the hell's the power you promised?

I didn't really have any collecting goals... I made the Skulltrak which I wanted to... didn't have the time or the space to make my Red Shadows U-Boat. maybe next year after I make my MotU Classics Snake Mountain.

Not sure if it passes as an achievement as such, but I couldn't let a 'round up' of the year's highlights go by without a special mention of a greatly valued new figure in my collection this year.....THE BARON! What a superb convention exclusive figure!
I said it at the time and I'll say it again now, thanks Jim and everyone else who made it possible. Great addition to my collection and I can't wait to buy more characters if you do them in the future :)
