Custom Red Shadow HQ idea reignited by Bob Brechin Q & A
I know Samsall did a version of the AF HQ for
but I started to do a more vintage version using only series 2 images and recolouring of the original. After reading what Bob said I am going to try to find images I started. I am really snowed under at the mo so was wondering if anyone would like a go if I find them. Also my photoshop skills are not great. It would be excellent to get one finished and maybe printed onto self adhesive paper for sale on here?

I was planning to do one based on the palitoy sw death star set. No idea how rare they are to start as a base from.
Just looked at prices and think ill print one out instead.

I still need to get mine printed off on card. Had to bookmatch the images for the printers and make sure all the dimensions were correct. Keep meaning to do it but keep forgetting.

What Bob said about a skull shaped base brought back a memory.
When I was a kid a friend's dad, a fantastic art teacher, designed an enemy HQ in the style of a castle shaped like a skull, with the mouth & teeth as the portcullis gate, fiery turrets, the works: a dark and threatening place. From the little I remember it was closed at the front and open at the top and back. He did a few concept drawings which to the ten year old me looked amazing. So far as I know he never actually built the thing, he was so busy elsewhere. If I had even a tenth of his talent I'd try to resurrect the idea from memory.

From Bob's brief description I'm picturing something along the lines of a techno Gothic aesthetic, shared by the Roboskull, with lots of cathedral like flying buttresses, bone shaped structural elements & absolutely bristling with guns.
More news, as its made, from new Action Force!

I'll post the images as soon as I can find them. Really trying to make it something that Palitoy would have done around 83-84 so really want to try to get the images on it to reflect that.

I'd bet Bob's version would not be cardboard at all, from the way he was talking. Maybe a modded Greyskull?
Let me tell you, Gunner La-De-Dah Graham, the British Army can fight anything! Intimate or not!

I think TKW's Death Star is a good idea as the overall factor is Palitoy's decisions was cost. For those that are familiar with it, I think the Gun turret on top of the cardboard Death Star could have been adapted to have a vacuum formed skull cover over it.
Here's the images I have so far. Very rough but hopefully shows what I was trying to achieve although like I said my photoshop skills are'nt great so its not as authentically vintage as I want:

I have thought of this before too. A skull would be great, but topped with a helicopter pad would probably be best for us making our own.The Kraken Wakes wrote:I was planning to do one based on the palitoy sw death star set. No idea how rare they are to start as a base from.
If it could be broken down into single sheets we cut from out home printer and assemble, that would be awesome. Possibly cut them, then glue them to vanilla folders, or something else. That's how I though of doing it before anyway.
If styles didn't clash too much, various people claiming a section each would be awesome.
