I raised it with my broker when I was taking out my house insurance, as we need to list any valuables over £2000. So I asked about the Collection, and was told that as it is a collection of smaller items I didn't need to specifically have it listed. I'm still very dubious of whether they would pay out if anything ever did happen. And to be honest, I'd struggle to tell you what I have! I'm okay with the main MOC stuff, but I've not got a clue with my other bits and bobs. Like the other night - I was having a shuffle around and found my Clashh of the Titans MOC's, which I totally forgot I had.

Even now, just looking at TShots pics of modern Star Wars figures it reminded me I have a box full of MOC ones under the spare bed!

So, whilst not a bird, I would say that I may perhaps be the BFTB Squirrell (in reference to the other thread!)

On the insurance front, I have my collections insured through Anthony Wakefield and Company Ltd. They have what they call "connoisseur policies" and the flyer I have here (although quite old now) gives the following web address

I got the flyer through the James Bond Collectors Club when I was a member. I've insured through them for a few years and it seems pretty good. All they ask for is a broad name for the collection and the value - no need for an expert valuation. I believe they go through Lloyds Underwriters to agree the insurance.

I do think it's worth putting large collections on something other than the house insurance as I don't think most 'normal' insurers would no what to do if you made a claim for the sorts of things we all have as collections.

I've got details of most of my collections, the major ones at least, on spreadsheets with details of what I paid for things. Perhaps a bit anal, but it does help making sure the level of insurance feels right and would help if the worst happened . . . unless the computer goes bang. I suppose I should really take the thing with me when i leave the house!

It's not just monetary value, I know I keep banging on about it, but just for sheer sentimental value a lot of this stuff is priceless & irriplaceable
Must admit I've never considered any of this stuff as being worth real money, but I guess if I ever decided to sell all this stuff for what ever the market value is nowadays' I could probably make a tidy little nest egg to put towards a place of my own.

Quite true T'shot, but if the worst ever happened you would want to be as safe in the knowledge as you can be that you'd get a cheque from an insurer so that you could start again, or use that as a nest egg. Heaven forbid the worst should ever happen to any of us. Even if it's more of sentimental value, it's better to be safe than sorry . . . well that's my view anyway
