Eagle and Battle comics

Post by Red Laser »

Seeing the threads about reprinted strips like Charley's War and Johnny Red got me thinking where is my Eagle and Battle collection. I found them at my parents while looking for something else I only have now later Eagle issues with MASK and at least 2 Battle comics with Storm Force, the much earlier issue with a part of Black Major wasn't found. :-( I also remember having several Battle holiday specials with Rat Pack stories in them but they weren't there.

my granny dumped all my Battles and Scream comics about 3 years ago.

needed the space in the drawers for socks or somfin equally important.

didnt have a great collection and most were wrecked or drawn on etc but it was my last piece of childhood. maybe not a bad thing tho as it got me back into collecting AF

No way would I do that Mark I still have loads of old comics I haven't read in years. I kept my 2000AD collection amongst others. I saw a new issue today not only has it shrank in page count but there isn't much in it to get my attention anymore to bring me back into the fold. I recently dug out my JLA tpb collection to read I thought I had filled gaps in it but it now looks like I didn't.

Same thing happened here, Bill. After I binned mine I discovered BFTB.

I still have a lot of my Marvel and DC comics, a few #1's too. Gi Joe etc.

I did notice though both my Battle and Eagle comics weren't numbered but going by our archive the Battle/ AF issues were numbered. My main original #1's are X-Force and X-Men from the early 1990's.

after nearly 20 years of collecting comics i stopped at xmas.
they were just too expensive and i got a bit bored of most of the stories i was reading. funny thing is i dont really miss them which is strange as they took up such a part of my life.

I think I have X-force 1-4, or there about's. A few other spin offs from that era too. I had 2 1970's Spidey Vs Green Goblin comics, dunno what happened to that pair. I have 1 - 50 near complete of The Nam, Semper Fi, Wolverine #50. STNG #1 and #100 (and a few in between). Star Trek #1, The Last Starfighter, Robotech... whole box full of stuff I'd forgotten about.

i gotta admit my comic collection is superb.

got nearly 30 longboxes of the things and pretty much have everything i consider good from the 80s until now.

really follow writers and pretty much have everything written by ellis, ennis, moore, gaiman, pad, millar etc.
was spendin between £30-50 a week for a looonnng time but the last price hike was the end for me, $4 for a comic is just too much

First comic I ever bought was The Phantom. Cost my 25c around 35 years ago. sh*ts me that I can't just grab a comic for the young feller as they cost near the same as a bloody novel.
