Okay...
To get our fellows on the other side of the pond informed (if not already), Sgt. Savage and the Screaming Eagles was a one-shot spin-off of G. I. Joe that appeared in 1994, as a prelude of sorts for G. I. Joe Extreme, which was mostly a flop. Anyway, the character of Savage was an amalgam of Sgt. Rock/Sgt. Fury and Captain America, in that he was a combat hero who was cryonically frozen in WW2 and revived fifty years later. His nemesis was one Garrison Kreeger, an American soldier of German descent who betrayed Savage's unit and ultimately had Savage frozen.
What material that exists is unclear about Kreeger's time between 1944 and 1994, when he reappears as General Blitz, leader of the I.R.O.N. Army. Things we do know:
1) There were experiments not only involving cryonics but eugenics, cloning, and cybernetics...and Kreeger's scientists had hit some great discoveries but didn't have time to adequately exploit them, as the War was ending fast.
2) Blitz himself was a beneficiary of these technologies, as in 1994 he had a number of cybernetic enhancements.
3) Kreeger's bunker laboratory was so well hidden that it wasn't discovered by the East Germans and so wasn't located until the 1990s.
Ideas: Yes Kreeger had himself frozen for a while, along with his best scientists, but also had help from "outside". Who? Why not the Nazis from "Death in South America"? Why not the Red Shadows, who also benefitted from the cloning and robotics technology? Why not Dr. Mindbender--who might have stumbled upon them while he was in practice?
What if Kreeger had cloned himself--and went to freezing as his augmented clone (after a brief freeze himself, maybe twenty to thirty years worth) raised his own army and science programs to perpetuate the effort?
The clone could be Baron Ironblood.
Speculation: "Blitz" Kreeger and the I.R.O.N. Army

Luckily, I know what you're talking about due to my exposure to the American "G.I. Joe" stuff. However, much of the "Action Force" stories were set in a different "universe", so to speak, and thus, had a totally different continuity. The only way to reconcile the two is to have someone reprint the old Battle Action Force and Action Force Weekly stories, while rewriting and rewording certain parts and times to "line up" with the U.S. stuff (or vice-versae).
I think you had a great idea, by the way...

I still have about a third or so of the Battle Action Force to read, but so far of what I seen tells me that the two continuities, while having problems, aren't exactly a straightjacket. There are bits of wiggle room, especially examples I've already quoted elsewhere on this forum (time shifts, compression of events, different locations/spheres of influence, redundant plots).seaneley wrote:Luckily, I know what you're talking about due to my exposure to the American "G.I. Hey, if I had the budget and the rights, I'd modify the later Action Force stories to include more of the original characters (SAS Force/Z Force/Q Force/Space Force)! The Marvel ActFor version of Flint is often so different from his version in American comics he might as well be Skip Campbell instead!
BTW, I've since learned that General Blitz is an echo of a recurring villian in Sgt. Rock--the Iron Major!

this is exactly what I have done amazing what a little word change here and there can do.
I posted a few scans of what I did over at the other board and it really bridges the gaps a lot and make everything so much more interesting and at the same time doesnt change the great stories that are being told

one I didnt know that about blitz being a echo of villian in sgt rock thanks for pointing that out
2 I had done just the thing for my own personnel use on modifying the af comics to include some of the old characters
I took out trent and replaced his name everywhere with buckinghams name , and yes that means he dies by the dreadnocks. I had also added skips name in places to make more sense and to bridge the two comics together more. it makes it a more enjoyable read for myself to see old characters interact with the newere joe characters
and flints character is not too different especially lately in the AE comic. in the uk marvel stuff he puts a gun to destros head after going on a one man rampage agaisnt cobra because they almost killed lady jaye, now take AE and notice he is prettty much the same but this time lady jaye is dead
