I just wrote my mother's car off.
I got rear-ended by an articulated lorry at a roundabout, which threw me over two lanes of oncoming traffic! Wanker then drove off, but I got his number.
I contacted the police, had to go to the nearest station and file a report, then go to the walk-in NHS centre for a check-up.

Being thrown into on coming traffic, it's a miracle you or anyone else weren't badly hurt!

Yes, thanks! Sorry, I should have said. Shaken and bloody furious but still in one piece. It could have been a hell of a lot worse, all things considered.
A few hours have passed and my back is seizing up something fierce, I expect I'll be feeling it tomorrow.

Good to hear you weren't seriously injured, cars can easily be replaced but life & limbs are irreplaceable!
Yeah, when I was involved in a R.T.A. the paramedic told me "You'll be hurting in places you never knew you had by tomorrow".
Having the presence of mind to take the lorries details will be a great help, do you know if they're any camera's on that particular stretch of road?

It's a major four-lane roundabout, J24 on the M1 - slap dab between Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station and East Midlands Airport, so I would expect so.
I was coming on from the A453.
Trouble is, I caught the number of the trailer, but had enough of a glimpse to see the cab one was different, all I got of that was it was an H-reg. The guy in the garage raised an eyebrow as that's illegal. It's probably why he scarpered.

I sympathise completely Jim, as a similar thing happened to me a few years back - a foreign truck driver pulled right out in front of me across two lanes of traffic. Went straight into him
.Unfortunately for me the truck was unmarked and had fake plates on (apparently very common within truckers coming in from Europe). I hope they get the idiot in this case, but sounds like the same thing may have happened to you.
