Thinking about selling my 2000ADs. Maybe.

Post by the enemy muton »

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but thought some of you chaps may be able to give me some advice.

I never thought I'd do this but over the last few days I have thought about selling my 2000ADs and Megazines accumulated from the late-80s to the mid-90s (and some more recent). What I was wanting to know though is exactly how much of 2000ADs output has been issued as collections either as graphic novels or as monthlies, specials etc. I have a lot of the major stuff as graphic novels such as Necropolis, Judge Child, War Machine, Halo Jones, Slaine etc. but what about Harlem Heroes, Armoured Gideon, Universal Soldier, Time Flies, Hooligans Haircut etc. I have very fond memories of these series and would hate to think that if I was to take the plunge and sell off my collection I would not have them available to read again (well, not without having to buy those issues all over again).

Plus there is a lot of my childhood tied up in those bits of paper, but on the other hand the cash could really come in handy right now and I'd be lying if I said I couldn't do with de-cluttering as well.

I suppose what I'm saying is it might be easier for me to say goodbye to them if I thought that my favourite strips were out there in nice complete volumes somewhere.

Sorry if I've rambled on a bit but one is on the horns of a dilemma :-?

Hard to advise you really, it would probably be more expensive to buy omnibus editions of everything you have..much more than you'd get for selling your collection (?)

Then there's the sentimental value...

coming from someone who has sold large chunks or whole collections of stuff in the past i would only do it if you really really need to.

its not for me to say but ive thought i hadnt needed or wated things only to buy them all back again usually at a higher cost than originally paid or sold for...

I wouldn't sell mine, but to answer your question Armoured Gideon has never been reprinted, Hewligan's Haircut was available as a graphic novel, but most of that era isn't quite classic yet.

However, there is a full set of scans available. I was involved in the project and it was completed over a year ago.

I'm gonna keep em; after watching the prices on ebay decided I would rather keep them, even if they just stay boxed up for another 10 years :-D Will have to check out those scans too!
