Chrome paint

Post by Gazmondo »

Does anyone here know how to chrome parts on figures? I'm thinking of doing a custom but need to chrome parts on it. A brief search on the tinterweb shows chrome spray paint so I think that me be the way to go.
Anyone had any experience in this?

Yes. There is a chrome spray by Plasitkote, which I bought just to experiment with. You can get little tester sized cans from Wilkinsons. It comes out a shiny silver, but not reflective. It's nice though.

Also, if you then lacquer it, it goes dull, this worked out in my favour as I customised a Zoid and in came out a dead match for the originals. That was pure luck!

I would also recommend the Plastikote. I used the Gold to make some emergency last minute Genie Lamps for our lasses school's Xmas play, and I was gobsmacked how shiny and gold they came out! I'm now hoping to get permission off the missus to use the rest of the can to pimp our wheelie bin! :-D
