Blood for the Baron!

Hi - This is my first post so I'd best start by saying hello.
Has anyone done a custom step by step? I'm interseted to see how arms/legs etc are swapped. Are they simply cut off and pinned back together or is it a far more mysterious dark art.
I'll post some photos of my efforts once I've actually taken some photos. I've been messing around with these for a while (since my son was born) as I want him to enjoy AF as I did - and have the huge armies that I could never have afforded growing up.
Great site by the way and am loving the old AF comics.

Don't cut them! Adopt the "boil and pop" method!

Palitoy Action force figures are easy enough to split, as "Steve says" you can boil and pop the limbs then some gentle persuasion at the crotch area with a stanley knife is usually enough to split the torso in two

Yeah - sorry - my post wasnt the most enlightening was it (I typed it on iPhone and got interupted)!

Boil and Pop is what we call it when you put the figure into very hot water (ideally just boiled) for a few minutes. This makes the limbs loads more pliable and rubbery. After a few minutes they generally just pull straight off - and they've got so rubbery that they pull off without damaging them. As the insert comes out it makes a loud popping noise - hence the name - Boil and pop.

You can do that with the legs, arms and head. You then need to split the torso, which, as the King of Customs Mr 1672 says, is best done by carefully inserting a craft knife or razor blade in at the crotch where the plastic is welded, and working the knife/razor around the seam, until the torso comes in half. Best to cut right the way around with it before trying to force it, as the torsos are also joined by a "male/female" joint in the middle of the chest. If you try to force it before you've worked your razor around it is likely to crack the torso.

Anyway, hope that helps at all.

Just dont do like I did - cut my finger with the craft knife and was so busy tring to stop it from pouring with blood I tipped my almost boiling water onto my gentlemans regions! That wasn't a fun night!

Cut and paste your pic link from whatever folder you are using and click on Img from the message toolbar. Paste your address in between the Img like[img][IMG]whodidyounickabollockoff.jpg[IMG][/img]. Delete the ones in caps so it is now [img]whodidyounickabollockoff.jpg[/img] and press submit or preview it first to see if it works.

I just upload mine to Photobucket, where they give you a pre-prepared IMG code for it. You can then just copy and paste it into your message.

I just love that bush hat, did you make it yourself ?

The guy in the balaclaver looks "right"..hard to describe what I mean, you know just looks like it should be like that & works perfectly.

As for posting pictures I upload mine to flickr, then right click "save picture as", then use the Add the file bit...seems to work O.K. for me...
