Ebay Postage

Post by ODB »

Looking for some thoughts here. I won a couple of things on ebay, seller sent through an invoice for them all and I paid it. Today I got a message saying that the seller needed more money to post them (in fact nearly doubling the P&P cost). Do I tell them to poke it and do I have ebay on my side?

Either get the weight of the items from them and go onto Royal Mail's website and work out a fair compromise for P&P or if they are ripping you off tell them to poke it. I hate people that take the piss with postage prices.
Today I sent a trade of the front cab part of the Corps/Lanard transporter. This is a medium size vehicle and only cost me £2.15 to post.

Wasn't there a quoted price at the end of auction?

It may be genuine. Ask him how much the weight is and compare for yourself using http://sg.royalmail.com/portal/rm/Price ... ricingcalc

Yes there was a quoted price and since I won two items the final P&P rate was combined so a bit more than quoted but now has doubled. I think they weren't happy with the final price so are trying to up their take.

Have you already made payment according to their invoice? If so then a deal is a deal.

Don't get assy with them though, try to get a reasonable solution and if not take it to ebay.

Yep paid as per their invoice after I requested it. Plus there was a gap of 24 hours after I requested the invoice and then made payment. So surely enough time to rectify any mistake?

If I was selling something and quoted the wrong postage then id take the hit myself - I wouldnt expect the seller to pay up as theyve bid and taken that postage amount into account...

I'd expect the seller to take the hit if they cocked it up. Only 2 reasons I'd reverse that decision, 1, if you know the seller and have a good relationship with him/her or 2, you thinks its fair enough.

I've had sellers send stuff that cost more than I paid, in those cases I'll usually offer to pay the difference if they were good to deal with. Never had anyone care tho.

Are we talking like a £20 difference here? I could probably understand that if it were the case, even so the seller should be apologetic and ask if you'd mind - not insist you pay for their mistake.

The trouble is if you kick off too much you may not get your goods. As I say be calm and reasonable.
