SteveD's Vintage Action Men (so far!)

Post by SteveD »

After the arrival of a lovely few Toltoys outfits from the "South Yorkshire to Southern Hemisphere Exchange Scheme" (cheers Chopper!!) I spent a fun hour or so before work today kitting out a few of the boys in their new (old) clothes, and thought some updated pics of my modest VAM collection were in order (apologies they are a bit grainy photos - it was still pretty early this morning and just light enough to not use the flash).

Now I need some more Action Men to wear all my outfits - if anyone has any for trade or sale let me know? Otherwise it'll be scouring ebay in the weeks to come for me! I need roughly five or six!

These are the actual new ones from Chopper:-

You know, it's a real shame that Action Man never had any bad guys to fight against really....

Now that is as cool as it gets. I haven't even put my Space Ranger guys outfit on yet and now I'm hanging to. Those guys look freaking unbelievably awesome Steve and I'm stoked that the uniforms went to a home where they will be worshipped upon at their VAM altar.

Where did you find the :ground: rubber balaclava? All the ones I have are rooted.

Homage old mate.

Aren't Captain Zargon and the Intruder from the VAM era?

Actually, now you mention it - it does look a bit like an Old Toys Alter in Carded Corner these days doesn't it? Best find me some virgins to sacrifice. Which will involve a trip out of Yorkshire I'd guess.

Erm, it was in the box you sent me mate!!! It's a little hard, but it looks okay hidden under the helmet like that. (insert gag here............................)

Did you loosen the hood up in any way? Lube it or anything? I wasn't game to even touch it, looked that rough. I still have one more left from my original VAM in much the same condition.

At the first ever AF con, maybe we could convince the Baron to set up a VAM altar and sacrifice virgins? It might draw a crowd.

 Well, I rubbed a little washing up liquid on it, and popped it in some warm water, which seemed to soften it, then popped it on quickly whilst it was still nice and pliable.

Luckily, due to some bad past choices (or good, depending on your view on such things) it has always been in my best interest to be good at quickly manipulating rubber things over the head of an item I want to protect! ;-)

Steve, obviously completely love it all. The Ground & Arctic Assault AM's are two of my faves! Surely you need to stand the little mini AF versions on the shelf next to them????

I just adore the 'toy corner'. Amazing pic and a a really beautiful, nostalgic set up. Makes me feel ten again! I just think it looks SO, SO, SO great!

Great work fella!
