Yup. Because there was sod all story really. That's the only reason. As I've said before as an action flick, 7 out of 10 as a Trek (thinking man's film) 5 out of 10. Its just proof that dumb action films are great sellers. Have you seen Idiocracy, Ed?

the characers were largely good, but the story was total bollocks.

Loved it at the time of watching, but was unimpressed when I thought it through the day after.

I mean, what was Nero's motivation? How convenient was it that Kirk met old Spock? What the hell is red matter?

yeah, but next generation sucks....... why has picard got such a freakishly shaped head? thats why it's the best film since serach for spock.

TNG is pretty dated now, but the Borg and Klingon episodes are superb!

Nero's motivation is Romulus had been destroyed by red matter so he went back into the past with the Narada to wipe out Vulcan and Earth to ensure Romulus future without a Federation. At least it's explained in the novel as this.

isnt it that obvious in the movie? well, revenge coz of the red matter & blaming the federation/spock anyway....
