Parcel Force - ARRGHH!

Post by AnnieM »

I am trying to send a fax machine to Scotland. I have a pretty little print-out from Parcel Force which says they'll be collecting it today between 9am and 1pm.

Which, according to the lady on the phone at their help-centre, means they MAY collect it today between 9am and 5pm. Or maybe tomorrow. Or maybe NOT AT ALL...

BECAUSE, according to her, Somerset is in the Plymouth area. And Plymouth area postcodes work differently... A bit like Scotland, she tells me. They don't have full coverage in these areas. I should have checked these, she tells me, on the website before I booked and paid for a collection. Ok, so I look and yes, some Plymouth postcodes ARE listed, but none within spitting distance of Somerset.

I'm 100 miles from Plymouth! And our nearest PF hub is Exeter, for goodness sake.

I've tried arguing that, by these calculations, we are actually closer to being the Haverfordwest, Worcester, Reading or Southampton areas.

I think the rule with parcel force must be that if you have a postcode it may not be a postcode they service.

cheers, Parcel Force!

Ooo - I'm feeling your pain Annie! They aren't my favourite people at the moment either, after I made a special detour to their depot on my way to work this morning to collect my parcel only to be told that the "leave it 24 hours" bit on the card means "24 working hours" apparently, as my parcel wasn't there. I did point out that the attempt to deliver was Thursday morning, and therefore I thought they'd had lots of chance, but then she started to get arsey. I get the impression my parcel may get used as a football for a day or two by them once it does eventually show!

"24 working hours" is the frigging stupidest thing I have ever heard.

And that's saying something since I just served a group of men from the Midlands who believed they were reincarnated Confederate soldiers...

I know! I was going to start with the "thats three working days!!" argument but she was already looking like she was about to headbutt me, so I got scared and walked out chuntering away to myself!

Confederate soldiers??? Really? Were they after some new horse shoes or a wooden wheel for the wagon?

It's Cowboy theme-week at Brean. Some of them take it more seriously than others. If you've got a crinoline fetish, Brean's the place to be this week.

24 working hours would surely mean one day to an overnight trunker like Parcel Force?

anyhoo... Some prat has just treated me with incredulity because I didn't know who Steve Steinman was.

I mean, do YOU know who Steve Steinman is off the top of your head?

Turns out he's the brother of Meatloaf's main lyric writer, and he's just written a musical starring Toyah Wilcox which is being staged in Blackpool next month.

Can't believe that one passed me by. Maybe my general knowledge of current affairs isn't quite as good as I thought...

I call our local (Peterborough) Street Wardens the "Happy-Shopper Police", because the Tee-shirts they wear are the same bright orange colour that Happy-Shopper's old plastic bags were.

I find they tell you whatever works in the situation - a couplfe of times now ive caught them out telling me different stories of how it works but in doing that I probably just ended up annoying them and delaying my parcel even further.

THey have a new trick now in that they deliver it to my local post office meaning I cant get it till the following weekend - even then the local PO send it back to the parcelforce depot after a few days. Do they expect everyone to be unemployed or working odd hours?

I have the Plymouth problem at work - its a real pain trying to organise collections with anyone - Parcelforce / DHL etc...
