vehicle customs

Post by andy hopton »

hello all,
has anyone seen the CHAD VALLEY ACTION SQUAD vehicle and figure packs in WOOLWORTHS. my local store is doing buy one get one half price on all CHAD VALLEY stuff, so i bought my son a pressie and got a JEEP,HELICOPTER, 4 FIGS and accessories half price.......... 4 quid.

the heli i am going to use for a SHADOW close support vehicle. the jeeps OK the figs are fun but bigger than AF but in the accessories are two 30CAL MACHINE GUNS which are about AF size. also they have some BARBED WIRE FENCES. there are TANKS, MOTORBIKE , DINGHY and a cool TANK TRANSPORTER in the range.

i have 4 customs ready to photograph but i'm moving house on monday so i'm a bit busy at the moment..........watch this space.

Andy, yes some good possibilities with this stuff, see the string on " source for custom vehicles " for what can be done with the tank transporter. I have done mine in green as a Z force unit but still cannot get the colour right. It is a little small for the battle tank but does not look too bad.
I have been working on the Elite range recently and they are great, they are probably what Palitoy would have ended up doing if they had been able to carry on and keep a certain amount of seperation from Hasbro. These figures and vehicles are truly accurate and capture what I always found puts the AF figures above the GI Joes. I can put up with a little bit of restriction on articulation in exchange for a figure that looks right and does not look like a WWF/E/C wrestler. Minimal work to get the Navy SEALs to look SAS but still gonna be a problem with the Z force green. Maybe I will settle for Z force desert camo.

hello mate,
sorry for delay in replying. i found a serious problem with the heating in my new house on day two that my surveyor missed and had to rip the lot out. which cost a LOT. OH WELL.

i've looked at the elite range and your right. mega accurate for toys. i agree that the realism in UK AF sets it apart from JOE. it gives it credability. i'm experimenting however with using limited JOE limbs to increase articulation for my vehicle crews.

the CHAD VALLEY chopper is now in bits, i have built a new cockpit tub with more detail. i'm going to pick up some cheap car spray paints at bootsale on sunday and start to spray it up. Z force green is a problem. i'll see what i can find.

the shadow pilot will be based on GI JOE PAYLOAD cos i got a load cheap and the body and haed are very eighties and echo STEELER :steeler: and RED LASER. :laser:

i'd ber interested in more of your ideas and pictures as it sounds like we are aiming for the same AF feel. i don't know how to post my own pictures so i get steve to do it but i think he must be on holiday at the moment as the pictures i sent him aren't on the site yet.

cheers for now :inf:

Andy, sorry didn't receive anything, I've sent you a PM with the best email address to use, a combination of spam and ISP problems has stuffed up a couple of my accounts recently.
It's good to be back
