Blood Bowl

Post by Shaunyboy »

This might not ring any bells with some of you but I picked this up at the Car Boot for a quid! If you've never seen it before it was a Fantasy version of American Football played by Elves, Humans, Orcs and so on.

I was never into the whole Warhammer thing to be honest, but me and a couple of mates got hooked on Blood Bowl from Games Workshop when we were early teenagers. I hadn't seen this in years! Just thought I'd chuck this thread out there if anyone else remembers it?

It looks more like a dungeon bowl board Shauny it's pretty much american football but with Warhammer races. Having looked at it again it's a much earlier version of the one I have the board now resembles a pitch rather than a dungeon floor.

Wow, not seen one of those in like 15 years or more?

Three old friends and I had leagues, it was a blast. There were all sorts of rules for paying players, match fees etc and bankrupting yourself. We even had two pitches and joined them in a cross to make a 4 way team game. Those were the days when we'd be too young to get served, but drink tinnies round someones house whilst playing that and then never really ending a game as we'd either start watching a film/ music or going out on the bikes into the forest with air rifles at night - ooooooh simpler times.

I remember I had a Dark Elf team I bought second hand, they were pretty good if I remember right? The plastic guys were pretty naff though.

Haven't seen that for years..Like a lot of people, I didn't play it myself, I had Space Hulk, but a mate had loads of G.W. stuff like Warhammer 40k, Titans(?)..the massive robot 40k things.. as well as Dark Future ( the Mad Max type one). I bought him a Rogue Trooper minature pack as a birthday pressie one year, as he was a massive fan of 2000ad & had most of the Judge Dread & Strontium Dog minatures in his collection.

Looking @ my cabinet I've got one Blood Bowl model..from the time I could paint anything that small!

I don't remember what his name or team he's from, he's some sort of "Tree-Man", with a bird nesting on his shoulder pad :-D
