The Variants/Body Parts Thread

Post by SteveD »

Hello, well children, here we are with our shiny new thread. How long until we break it??? Anyway, first to some pictures....

SERIES 1

Mail away Commander:

Image

Image

To my knowledge no SERIES 1 variants of this guy - this is, after all, the TAN HAT Commander. The later variants to my knowledge were all with the Series 2 Commander - with the zips etc.

German Stormtrooper

Image

Image

Image

Weapon variation came in the form of blue or black weapons.

Known paint variation to be logo on side of helmet (this guy hasn't go it - would've helped if I'd taken pic of the side of the helmet I guess!).

Any others?

All body parts reused to make Red Shadow (other than head)

Desert dude

Image

Image

I know of no variants, but would love to be proved wrong.

Legs never reused???

Australian Jungle
(a bit like UK garage, only less techno influenced)

Image

Image

Image

Generic head beneath that there hat - same arms as Desert? Legs ever reused?

Mountain and Arctic

Image

Image

Plain white variant, and part camo variant. My plain white has no head logo, and no signs of rubbing, so suggests it never had the Eagle on there. My half camo (both) do. Does anyone have one in plain white with the eagle?

Legs never reused (other than for SWS prototypes). Other body parts commonly reused.

Arctic Assault

Often confused with the above, but the legs are different:-

All parts from Arctic etc reused extensively.

That's all for today - discuss away, and more pics when i can be arsed if this one works?

Does this help with the :german: helmet variants?

Nice job Steve. Lots to comment on.

T-shot, are they your Germans, very envious of the head decals....

A few initial thoughts.

- The Mail Away Commander never came with an Ammo box.

- The German never came with a black plastic gun. That colour gun came with some European versions of the Z Force Captain.

- Aussie Jungle legs were re-used on Z Force Minesweeper???

Hi Pual, yep all mine..the middle one's the no decal version that I almost got rid off, as I thought it was suffering from decal rub-off , the other two have both badges on..also the non badged one has different coloured chin strap I think(?)

I'm guessing, what with Palitoys legendary qaulity control, it's possible to have a :german: with only one printed badge?

Superb shots, seriously excellent.

Will go through my stuff to see any variants

I also have the Half Camo Mountain and Arctic figure - cool!

Australian Jungle - love it
I'm partial to a bit more minimalist Naval Assault morning trance
and i'm smiling about the sort of horrendous nosebleed techno the Muton would listen to!

Hi,
Don't know how clear it is in this photo, but the :commando: to the right of this photo has his webbing & pouches painted in a lighter shade of green, the one on the left is unpainted..

The all white Mountain & Artic definitely has a red emblem on it's helmet.

I've had several with it on.

I would suggest that yours in the photo [without the emblem] is a painting error figure.

Just a thought, but was the Stormtrooper helmet extended to form the Shad mask?
I have no Germans so I can`t make a comparison.

Briefly from what has been said so far, how about this sort of thing?

Commander
HM3, AM6, AM7, BM4, LM4
Green body & legs, tan hat with red & black trim, black shoes & holster.

German Stormtrooper TYPE 1
HM8, AM1, AM2, BM7, LM9
Green/Grey uniform, grey helmet, black belt, webbing & boots.
Helmet decals: Tripartate shield on left, Imperial phoenix on right.

German Stormtrooper TYPE 2
As Type 1 without head decals

Desert Rat
HM6, AM4, AM5, BM11, LM6
Khaki legs & body, dark brown scarf & webbing, green puttees & boots, white headdress.

Australian Jungle Fighter
HM12, AM4, AM5, BM3, LM3
Mid green body, arms and hat, green-brown shoes, dark brown webbing.

Mountain & Arctic TYPE 1
HM2, AM3 (both), BM2, LM14
All white in colour, with red head decal

Mountain & Arctic TYPE 2
As Type 1 but with grey/blue camo body & arms (legs white).

Mountain & Arctic TYPE 3
All white with no decal

Arctic Assault
HM2, AM3 (both), BM2, LM2
All grey/blue camouflage, white boots

The descriptions can be tidied up, along with adding details of weapons, etc, and put into a decent table form, ideally with photographs - i'm just messing about at the moment.

Comments?

BTW, the head decal on the Mountain and Arctic figure - is that in the all white and mixed (Types 1 and 2) - is this certain (photographs?)

Cheers guys
