SAS Tribute 5th May 1980
SAS Tribute 5th May 1980
On this day in 1980: The SAS stormed the Iranian embassy in London, freeing 19 hostages held by terrorists.
Whenever SAS is mentioned on this site I think of the storming of the Iranian Embassy and the images they put out on TV. Brave guys that's for sure! Here is a tribute to them for rescuing all those people.

nice picture shaun, i watched a documentery recently about the the storming of the embassy, it does make you realise just how skilled those boys are. I can vaguely remember it at the time it's one of those events that will stick with you all your life.

I remember that happening and was v excited as a kid...
If it wasnt for that happening then the AF SAS guys would have a very different look. Or not be here at all?

I was 6 @ the time &, probably as most of us here, can remember it vividly..I guess for any one around my age it must be our "Kennedy moment".
Ofcaurse I was too young to know what it was all about @ the time, but it didn't stop me wanting the S.A.S uniform for my Actionman the following christmas.
