enamel paint.......
a lot of people on here seem to use humbrol enamels, but i was under the impression enamels didnt dry on softer plastics?
i have found that if i use enamel spray paint it stays tacky. do you guys not have problems?

Re: enamel paint.......
Ive never had a problem using humbrol enamels on actual hasbro produced figures even if the plastic is quite soft as with some of the resulpt comic book arms / heads...
Ive only ever had a problem if ive been too lazy to give the paint a really really really good stir or painting some plastics from other toy lines like soldier force / world peacekeepers...
Humbrol gloss paints can take an age to dry and manage to attract every piece of dust or hair in the room in the process so I tend not to use them unless thinned down as a wash so they dry a lot quicker...
Satins are my preferred choice, a bit like johnigoe I suppose...

The plasticiser in PVC is the problem, and it might affect the newer figures. I know the Dr Who pvc parts don't take enamel
Re: enamel paint.......
With vintage AF I find an undercoat of Skull white makes the enamel paint dry rather than remain tacky.

Aha, there's my problem. Well one of them. I've been using Humbrol on the body of my Shad Sniper and it isn't setting right. Looks like sh*t now, I'll have to strip and refinish. Seems to stick to the limbs OK, just not the torso's.

Re: enamel paint.......
Anyone tried Acrylic? I have read that for the old Kenner vintage figures, it was the only reliable way to go.

yeah, but acrylic scratch of joints so easily, whereas enamels last longer.Malcolm Orr wrote:I use acrylic for everything Chopper!Chopper wrote:Anyone tried Acrylic? I have read that for the old Kenner vintage figures, it was the only reliable way to go.
is it just new figures that have problems?
