Action Force day?
Action Force day?
Now I know this forum has under 100 users and geographically maybe spread out over europe and the world, so those who could attend a venue would be limited, but when I look at the amount of ebay collectors and lack of choice from dealers maybe it could work.
It is for some reason nigh on impossible to get Action Force stuff from toy fairs, it just is'nt there, I don't know if this is because the dealers can only bring so much and there is not yet the profit in this for them to bring it in place of say star wars or the dealers just do not bother buying it in the first place.
I guess everyone has seen the increase in recent times of ebay prices for action force. Although demand is stronger most of this is due to the fact that you can't buy it anywhere else. Demand now is very strong not just with action force collectors but with GI Joe collecters looking for the different variants. A Quarrel figure last week sold for over ?40.
Action Force at the time were very popular toys and sold in high numbers so they should (in theory) not be rare, their high values just reflect that they are hard to get hold of. A lot of this stock is probably still floating around somewhere (or being stock pilled).
If demand was high enough, having a specialist day in addition to many Af specialist dealers may attract general dealers who have this stuff but are hoarding for the future sales or dealers who just don't see the plain worth in selling it.
It would also be a good way of collectors to swap doubles or bits and pieces.
I recently attended the Action man toyfair at Chesthunt, this used to be two halls devoted to Action Man, but in recent times due to I think Dealer greed and largly the increase in popularity in ebay, only 1 hall was used.
now if they two could be combined that might be something, there is also another Action Man day in Coalville home of Palitoy, this attracts dealers and customers from Europe and the states.
I know most of you would still be happy buying from eBay, but i'll leave you with this. From a toy fair I paid 50p for my Quarral figure.

Cheshunt....
I do usually go to the Cheshunt shows, just noticed that today's one was cancelled, means I don't feel so bad about having had to work today!
The next two Cheshunt Sci-fi shows are on 23 May and 27 June. They haven't said which (if either) will be the Action Man one, the last was in October so it must be due soon!
The site is at: http://www.showmastersonline.co.uk/fairs.html
It would be great to meet some of you guys there when it happens next. I'll keep an eye on the dates to see if they announce when the Action Man show will be.

It's good to be back
Action Force STILL Needs You!

I went to the last action man day at chesthunt and it was woefull, only 10 of so action man stalls turned up, very depressing, they then were talking about canceling the next one due to lack of interest, even though england goalie David James turned up buying a few figures.
there also seems to be more events going now which I think has divided the amount of visitors.
I've not been to this one

the one in coalville I can't find anthing on, it used to be run by two people but they had split partnership and now Dianne runs the one above, not sure if that means the one in coalville is no longer.
I also think the event in chesthunt is (until interest revived )on hold as well. which is a shame as this would of been ideal to hold as a joint Action Force day as well. Because the event is held almost next door to a massive scifi and toy fair the same day it attracts more than just action man collectors.
Do any of you guys have any good toy fairs near you, that could make a good altnative.
I guess the first steps would be to find a central location thats good for everyone who would want to attend, then find a toy fair near by

Superb Idea
As a fairly new collector (this time around) I have found it nigh on impossible to get anything from my area (wolverhampton) except via ebay. A day where all AF collectors get together would be tremendous.

I've seen people on ebay sell tickets for toy fairs, this lets all the ebay users know there is one comming up, a very cheap way to advertise an event to your core target.
The Action Man day Dianne held last time had special guests in attendence, not sure if this is newsellers contact but they had Bob Brechin, former Chief Designer at Palitoy around the time of Action Force launch, who would not want to shake hands with this guy and quiz him for hours!
I think we should take over a function room of a pub , bring along all our spares and trade and sell whilst getting plastered, invite some dealers along and advertise tickets on ebay
