RED SHADOW PILOT

Post by Ross SC »

ok, heres the pilot for my Shadow Fighter, the jet still isnt finished, but there is also a pic of him in the cockpit.
repainted head & helmet, highlights on upper body, shaved off trouser detail, really simple just wanted to paint as little as possible as the cockpit is a tight fit & it would all scratch off!

Nice work! Unbelievable that a plane so bloomin big has a "tight fit" cockpit though!

Without wishing to threadjack (as he then does so) - do you guys actual use the Dremel multdrill? I'm after one, and the cordless one at Argos is about £70, but Modellers Loft had a cheapo version for about £30. My tendency is to go for the real thing though. Any advice?

steve, i got a cheap 1 for £25 and its pretty good, tho no instructions so its a bit of trial and error using the different heads.
gotta say tho i havent used it nearly as much as i thought i would.

the helmet was a bit snug, just had to file it down slightly & cut off the two cobra logo's from the vest.
his feet have to be pointed back on themselves, @ first i thought i was gonna have to take em off coz i couldnt get the plane apart but with a bit of effort he fits!
be wary of cheap dremel copies, i got one & the motor isnt powerful enough, but i was also using it to build tattoo machines so i guess it might have been good enough for plastic.
the plane should be finished by the weekend, ive got tomorrow off work & it was too big to bring home!

Bought mine at Argos, the cheap version.
Works great for me, only used it twice though!

The pilot is great :) Worked out a treat.
Will have to replace the body on my Shad pilot, not 100% happy with it.

I use the Black and Decker version of the Dremel, very useful, good accesories and the variable speed is set by a 'wheel' so you can get it just right for hollowing out with out scratching/melting etc.
