Since Dave has excited us all with this marvelous find, I've been trying to reason it out.
Its almost certainly not from Series 2 as there is no apparent team connection. All the other figures were obviously team members with the logos printed blatantly on them all somewhere [except for the mighty Muton].
Its obviously not Series 3 as they were all multi-limbed GI Joe repaints.
So it must surely have a connection with Series 1, although these were nearly all Action Man-redux related.
It could possibly be from inbetween Series 1 and 2 as an idea that was thrown around before the 5-Forces concept was settled on... Obviously, mere speculation.
It might be from some kind of vehicle or playset.
It might also have been intended as some kind of mail-away. The [Z Force] Commander Mail-away figure has no obvious connection to any team.
I'm puzzled by the chest logo as it is about the only 'clue' to the figure's affiliation.
Until Dave can take a clear chest photo, I've tried to enlarge it [not very successfully!]
It looks like some kind of maroon 'rocket' on the right of the chest and probably some writing or a symbol of some kind on the left. All very mysterious...
I reckon Paul's probably right. I think it is wave 1 and it may have been intended to be included with the base. Something akin to the Commander. Action Force management I can see why it would have been ditched in that case. Not "Action" enough. I don't think it would have a been a new force. It may have been an Space Force mock-up that pre-dates the 4 forces mind you.
Dave, this is BIG news in the [very small] AF world! The first 'new' figure in many years!
If you get the chance, it would be really great to get a good, clear pic of his chest, and also the back of the figure as well next time you enter the Batcave.
Thanks again, its chirped me up this weekend after a really knackering week.
