GI Joe Stop Gap

Post by Destro »

I'm just interested to find out what people will be reading after the end of America's Elite or any advice on good stuff to read.

I've been stockpiling some things to keep me going.

The Virgin Dan Dare Mini Series. (I read Eagle from Battle merging into it upto it's demise and I like the concept of the series)

Charley's War Volume 1 & 2 (My favourite Battle series outside of Action Force)

Judge Dredd vol 1 (Never read the series but I've always thought that I missed something)

Transformers : Infiltration (I like TF and re-read all the reprints & I want to see how IDW re-boot a series)

If you're planning on reading Dredd I strongly recommend the Apocalypse War. There is a prequel called Block Mania worth reading too.

the Losers by Diggle and Jock, great action/espionage story and the first trade is pretty cheap. wasnt overly thrilled by the ending but some of the build-up and Jocks art is just incredible. issue 24, part 4 of a 4 part story, is 1 of my favourite comics ever and even tho its the last part of a 4 issue story can be read on its own.

what sort of stuff are you into Destro??

The Complete Judge Dredd Casefiles they collect Judge dredd from his first appearance up to Necropolis currently. Captain America by Ed Brubaker and (New) Thunderbolts gets better as the series progresses.
Spock, where the hell's the power you promised?

One damn minute, Admiral

I'd say the only good comicbook stuff currently left is the Transformers Collector's Club comic, and even that almost went downhill due to the Shattered Glass nonsense.
Better try to get old stuff from trade paperbacks or resale comics.

got a bit fed up with DMZ and thought the boys was ok but not great.

for fans of ennis you should check out his early hellblazer issues, pride and joy is pretty good also.

thought the first 35 issues of preacher were fantastic then it seemed to turn into a parody of itself.
some of the war stories were pretty good esp liked dear billy
