2000AD publishers Rebellion buy Fleetway archive including Battle, Action, Roy of the Rovers and Charley's War!
Rebellion's head of book and comics publishing Ben Smith said: "I am delighted we have the opportunity to return these to print and develop new stories based on iconic characters."

I was just looking at this too! They've acquired the rights to Battle and it seems Battle Action Force! They could potentially use it to reprint or even relaunch!

Potentially some awesome old school reprints could come out of it, which saves me rereading my originals and running the risks of them falling apart!!

No mention of Eagle? Wonder if they acquired that too?

I hope they won't want me to take the site down.

Well, when I very first started the site I contacted Rebellion to announce my intent. I had (wrongly) assumed that they already had the rights to Battle after reprinting Charley's War in the Judge Dredd Megazine.

I received a reply from Wakefield Carter, basically saying that they wouldn't object but they wouldn't endorse the site either.I hope it still stands. We'll just have to see what happens.

Thanks for posting, Egmont picked a good moment to sell what with Titan and a couple/handful of individuals monetising a fraction of the otherwise dormant archive over the last years, new Johnny Red strip probably helped with the decision too.

Downthetubes has a list of all titles purchased:

Seems Eagle is not included with the rights held elsewhere.

FYI also noticed that Moose's archive - or at least part of it - is in the process of moving across to downthetubes

Rebellion did a great job with 2000AD so let's see what the future holds.

Good and bad, I guess. I have enjoyed the new Johnny Red strip. Maybe there will be more.

The Rebellion gang talk about the Fleetway purchase in this podcast, starts around 31m30s mark.

http://2000ad.com/post/1779
In February 2017, 2000 AD celebrated four decades of cutting edge comics at the 40 Years of Thrill-power Festival in London and we are proud to give you a front row seat for panels with some of the best creators in comics today...

It’s been four decades since 2000 AD blazed into the Thrillosphere, but what does the future hold for Britain’s biggest comics export? Owners Jason and Chris Kingsley discuss how how they rescued this British institution and their plans for the next 40 years - including games, movies, and TV - while Head of Books and Comic Books, Ben Smith, talks about the recent acquisition of the massive Fleetway/IPC archive.
Lots of other stuff (Dredd, Rogue Trooper) covered in the podcast.
