Newish Website - www.gijoe-actionforce.co.uk

Hi, I'm new to the fold, I tried joing GIJOEUK but there didn't seem like there was anyone there.

I'm looking forward to future forum discussions.

I just wanted to mention I've just started a new website about post Battle Action Force. There's still a lot to do to the site and it's not going to be as large as bloodforthebaron.com or as extensive as yojoe.com but I wanted to check what people thought about it.

Welcome aboard, mate! You've done some cracking work there! Please let me know if I can be of any help! I have a reference list of GI Joe Uk reprints here if it's any use to you:

Hey, why do you say that Marvel UK weekly is non-continuity? I thought they were designed to run alongside? I must confess I've not checked that out.

For the most part they could easily fit in

but occasionally they cant because they run out of order with the US run and so at times certain characters appear before ( foot loose ) they were in the US comic

Most of the stuff could though and you of course would have to ignore the UK file cards that have then at different birthplaces and nationalities but it could easily fit in

MOST OF these stories should be a part , as there are some great marvel UK stories

Don't get me wrong, I love the Marvel UK Weekly series but following the original US Material by Larry Hama is confusion on certain characters.

Sorry, this may get a long winded.

US Issue 37 is the 1st meeting between Lady Jaye and Flint (a scene rewritten in the UK). This is in the middle of the cobra high command shutdown as the assassination attempt on Cobra Commander by Billy is investigated. The very next issue Storm Shadow turns against Cobra and goes underground after rescuing Billy. This basically ruins all Storm Shadow appearances in the UK.

US Issue 45 - Flint introduces Quick Kick and Alpine as new members of the team to Snake-Eyes and Spirit meaning that as main characters of the UK stories they could fit in after this point. Unfortunately this is also the lead upto the Ripcord landing on Cobra Island and the swapping of identities with Zartan which results in the Battle of Springfield in Issue 50 and the suspension of the entire team in US Issue 52. Issue 52 also leads into the destruction of the PIT which then rules out Cobra Commander and Destro as they are missing believed dead. Destro from this point on is non-threatening towards GI Joe and is no longer affiliated with Cobra which completely then knocks out all Destro issues .

Hope that all makes sense.

But as I said I'm still fond of the UK stories but only most the Monthly Issues fit as they were specifically written to appeal to both UK and US continuities at that point.

Gotcha. I don't recall there being a UK issue where Jaye and Flint first meet though, unless I misunderstood you! Is there any leeway in slotting stories in between 2 pages of a US issue (this happens a lot in comics)? Another idea, and I'm thinking of the strip where Destro loses his memory, could be that the strips are flashbacks.

The first meeting of Lady Jaye and Flint is in Twin Brothers.

In the UK the entire scene was rewritten to make it look like they were visiting the US to test equipment.

Also Lady Jaye is introduced as a new memebr of the team in the episode All Fall Down but the pages were simply deleted in the UK.

I remember looking at opportunities to fit in UK stories when I was reading the US comics for the first time but within this short period the story quickly runs into each issue.

There were lots of other reasons but I would have to go back and review.

I apologise for the repeated posts. There was an error message popping up when I was hitting the submit button and didn't realise they were being posted.

Sorry, I don't know why the forum does that sometimes. I always delete duplicate posts though so don't worry.

Ah, I hadn't realised the reprint strips had missing pages. I know that the word balloons were corrected to say AF instead of Joe, but didn't know that there were gaps.

I badly need to catch up on the US comics, I guess I may as well start over then. I'll post more in six years!
