Hunter without SAS logo - factory made?

Post by Ironhide »

Hi everyone,

At the moment, I have - among many other things - a Hunter figure for sale. I am pretty sure I bought it in the 80s in one of those Palitoy 4-in-1 sets with 4 random figures.

My Hunter has no SAS logo. I don't mean it has worn off, I mean it just looks like it was never there to start with. I have no recollection from when I bought it if this was the case then, or it really did wear off -so- smoothly, so I can only base myself on how he looks now.

I have made photos with as much detail as I could under different angles of light in the hopes of seeing maybe an over-painted logo like with my Red Laser helmets, or the remnants of a print that was once there, but there just isn't anything to see, not even scratches. If it helps, mine's the dark-webbing/lazy eyes version as Hopper described it.

Please, can you guys help me? Do the Hunters really wear this smoothly or is this a variant I just haven't heard about?

Could just be a Friday special meaning a factory error.
Not here for a long time, just here for a good time.

Hi everyone,

I've had a few responses from people here and through PMs and I will give up the fight. I will assume my Hunter used to have a logo and it wore off. I am now sad. So the price is lower. But since there are already 4-5 people that told me they were interested, I expect it won't be mine much longer.

Thanks for your help!

unfortunately hunter is the one with extreme paint wear and finding a mint example is hard to do, i have more than one with the logo rubbed off completely.

There was also that scumbag who tried to make wave 2.2 German prototype figures using GI Joes a few years back, this may be one of his attempts.

I don't think so Jim, the OP has had him since new.
Let me tell you, Gunner La-De-Dah Graham, the British Army can fight anything! Intimate or not!

Just to update: Hunter has been sold. I'd love to hear from to buyer what he thinks of him up close. Anyway, it is no longer of interest for me except academically. Thanks to all who responded! :D

Buyer believed it to be normal wear. I'm kind of bummed, but oh well, case closed.
