I'd just like to confirm that I've not been approached by Disney & will not be directing the future Star Wars sequels either.

Who else won't be directing them?

At least the house can be rebuilt, there is no comeback from this. If he does those dumb doco - I'm an noob with my camera - shots, he fluff it up well and good. Star Wars (and Star Trek) were in part about enjoying the visuals. Even Lucas understood that. Hell, he kick started the idea with ILM for a bloody reason.

Looks like its official that Abrams will be directing the next film. What a bland and uninspiring choice, I can see the next film being another John Carter. Still at least the Zack Synder rumor was false.

I don't know..everyone complained about the way George Lucas wrote & directed the prequels, now thier bemoaning the fact Mr Lucas isn't going to be directly involved with the new films & someone else will be writing & directing them...

I didn't complain about the prequels! Gore Verbinski and Jerry Bruckheimer nailed Pirates of the Caribbean for fun, action, adventure, romance with awesome SFX. They would be my choice.

Oh, and they work for Disney.
