I don't know if it was a competition or not but I don't recall my local Beatties running any competitions for the Flagg :cry: .

The guy that told me the story seemed to recall that the Flagg might of been onsale at that point in Hamleys and his Dad really wanted it (whether or not it was for his son or himself I don't know) and was on the edge of trying to buy it but the plan was dampered by his mum dragging them both out of the store.

I am quite tempted to send them an email to see if they have any records of the display or not.

one of my daftest memories was when my dad went shopping and I stayed in the car, and when he came back he said "I got you loads of action men", I was thrilled, only to find that this translated to being a "bag of generic green plastic soldiers" :(

i used to love those green plastic soldiers, mum would buy me a big bag for 99p from the newsagent and as always i would melt them on the fire! It was great.

In my local newsagents they sell cowboys,indians,vikings etc those same cowboys and indians coloured differently were made by Airfix my brother had them for christmas years ago. I would like to see how much they are now there is no Airfix packaging on them at all but they are the same ones.

Most likely a couple of pound I may look tomorrow my brother's lot had horse riders this one just has both on foot. The Vikings look ok but not the same quality.

One year, the local school fete had a "guess how many soldiers" comp',it was one of them massive old style sweet jars full of Airfix soldiers correct answer won all the soldiers in said sweet jar!..I didn't win :-(
