There are still Toymasters scattered around. When I was down the South Coast there were a few, and when I go to Cornwall each Spring there are a few down there. I always go in for a wander around, on the hope of seeing a stockroom door ajar and peeking inside to see lots of dusty Action Force! Alas, it's not yet occurred!

And then I feel old as I haev no idea who Ben 10 is, and wonder how come after two years he's not become Ben 12 yet. And then I buy a powerball, and leave.

Is membership worth the money? I've been thinking of becoming an Associate member, so I can benefit from group buying without taking on the Toymaster brand itself, but the fees are quite high and I don't know if what I save will be more than the fees. Do you know if the wholesale is a lot better than what was offered direct?

Dave.
Sorry, only just saw this post - We were one of the largest members (at one point the largest), I would have a fair input into buying decisions but never my sole decision unless it was Lego. Because we were so large, with some suppliers we had better terms on our own than as part of the group, the main benefits to us were seen as the brand, ads and catalogue and in some cases extended terms / slight discounts. Our MD and his family were v influential within Toymaster and the BATR. No idea what they are doing now since the firm went into receivership but it was a pretty big blow to Toymaster when it happened...

From talking to smaller members I dont believe the prices were much better (at that time), the main benefit in that respect was extended payment terms with only a slightly better wholesale price.

he's a kid that's got some alien watch thingy that enables him to transform into other things to fight aliens. or some bollocks. it's a f*cking rip-off of the Mega Drive game Kid Chameleon and the comic-book Witchblade as far as i can tell.

probably 1 of the best toy ranges and certainly the best cartoon aimed at kids i've seen in a long time.

my kid is big into it and its 1 of the only kids show i can watch with him.
the toys are excellent, capture the animated feel perfectly and are reasonably priced.

The series' name comes from his age, the pun of his name, Ben Tennyson, and the fact that he can select 10 different alien creatures to transform at the beginning (they are more later). Besides, Ben didn't age during the original series because it happened during the same summer vacation with his cousin Gwen and their grandpa Max. Ben is 15 years old uring the new series (Alien Force). Among the many villains he has faced, Ben's main enemies are Kevin 11 (a kid who has the powers of the original 10 aliens, plus a mutant power of his own) and Vilgax (an alien who wants the power of the Omnitrix, the "watch thingy"; more Max's enemy than Ben's)

My son loves Ben 10 too. Try as I might, I can't get him that enthusiastic about Joe's. Star Wars yes, Joe's no.

Also the live action movie features Gil Gerrard. I will confess to having watched it and enjoying it. Its pure dumb fun, much like the cartoons of the 70's. I'd much rather watch the Clone Wars but if you want to waste half an hour, its good value.

We have a new digital TV station in Aussie, a spin off of channel 9. So far its loaded with WB stuff. Justice League, Superman, New Teen Titans and the Legion of Superheroes. Sunday is Dad and Son day ;-)
