Pleased to report that the Harrier's still the gate guardian for Wittering :-D
I often pass by it, as I work as a delivery driver in Peterborough & often have to travel to Stamford via the A1...
Also quite a few U.S. airbase's & memorials dotted around the local area as well, I sometimes deliver to a warehouse @ the old Polebrook airfield, which is based in a wartime hanger..the memorial's a nice peaceful spot, to stop & have unofficial lunch break :.

These stories remind me of when I used to get taken down to the coast on the old A21, the highlight of the journey was passing a shop that had a 1/3 size spitfire over its door. Sadly I can't remember where this was, even after hours searching on Google Earth.

Though if you want a fun game find Gatwick airport and then off the end of the runway find the Gatwick Aviation Museum and play name the airplane.
