Boffin - The Scientist's Chest Logo
Re: Boffin - The Scientist's Chest Logo
hmmm......
however waves one and two were based on original action men ( soldiers from around the world )
cant recall an action man scientist ??
he dosnt seem to fit in the first waves in my opinion, and non of the original series figures had logos as such.
I would have to place him after the first series, which frustratingly rules him out of the base ?

Re: Boffin - The Scientist's Chest Logo
I'm still of the opinion that if Z Force was originally called heavy weapons then the 'Special Weapons' Force could have been the 5th good guy Force in series 2
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
Re: Boffin - The Scientist's Chest Logo
all the body parts can be taken from wave one...
however the Z force minesweeper is basically a repaint of the Australian jungle fighter with a new head.
Palitoy did tend to recycle parts a lot so I suppose this could have been a later figure ?
Im not convinced that a "special weapons force" could have been a new force, but I suppose it could have been an "idea" while Z, Q, SAS and space force were in early development.
maybe palitoy realised a team of scientists wouldnt have too many play options ?

If Z Force were originally called 'Heavy Weapons', then possibly 'Special Weapons' was a name of one of the other forces proposed when Palitoy were thinking what to do when designing Series 2.
They might all have been 'Something Weapons'-Force initially before ditching the idea for the letters.
'Special Weapons' would probably have morphed into Space Force [because of the rocket].
This would put the figure between Series 1 and 2 in the ideas stage which would make sense.
The colour scheme on the chest could have been from this 'transition-phase' when the logo was still orange and black before they switched to yellow and red....

Re: Boffin - The Scientist's Chest Logo
so "special weapons" became space force ?
that might make sense especially with the rocket logo.
so perhaps this guy is an early concept space figure, he does have that hi-tech look about him and I dont think he would look out of place on a space station, or on the bridge of the enterprise !

There's definitely no Action Man equivalent?
Re: Boffin - The Scientist's Chest Logo

Re: Boffin - The Scientist's Chest Logo
The logo could represent an large ballistic missle that a "Special" would have been delivered on. Just a thought but the Scientist could have be part of a vehicle set so perhaps as the man launching the bucket of sunshine, no test tubes needed for that. The other force letters i think have historical bearing in terms of attachment to the Navy "Q" and "Z" was related to an infantry unit. I would have to do a wee bit more research here but I am sure that Palitoy have used real historical reference from the WW2 era.Andy1672 wrote:so "special weapons" became space force ?
