i like their archive, but i've never really bothered with the forums...

it's certainly rather stupid the way it went down, though. it was a perfectly reasonable request 'please could you more accurately reflect the UK origins of these characters?' no need for them to get all arsey and act the twat over it.

YoJoe is a BEHEMOTH. Over the years it's gone through several administrators, and teams. Each one has brought their unique point of view to it. As a result there are a massive amount of mistakes to correct. Some, like keeping the US and International categories separate are just too deeply entrenched to correct with a few clicks of the mouse.

Is the system perfect? Hell no, far from it. But what seems like a minor change to 1 person, could lead to major changes for the people that have to take care of it. And I think that's the case here. Sure it's starts with 3 or 4 Action Force convention exclusives. But that leads to the South American exclusives from the year before. Then it crosses over into things like the 25th Anniversary Storm Shadow Ninja-Ku Leader, and the Red Ninja, and Pilot Scarlett. The list goes on. Where do you draw the line?

My point is that from an administrative point of view, one little change can open a big can of worms.

There are so many ways to rank any group of figures. Just look at the books that are out there. The DeSimone books go strictly by the year on the butt, regardless of when the figure was released. The books Ron and Derek put out are mostly by series. You could list them alphabetically, or by sub team. But just about every presentation will have it's flaws. Do you put "Agent Scarlett" under "S" or "A"? Tomax & Xamot? List them together? Or alphabetically?

Same issues come up here. Are there 2 versions of Dolphin, and 1 version of Lt. Dolphin? Or just 3 versions of the same guy? Take a quick look at the BFTB toy archives. I don't see any mention of Duke being an American figure before it came to British shores.

Did the thread degrade to a kinder garden slap fight pretty quickly? Sure did. But let's be objective here, both sides let it go in that direction. You have to remember this is the Internet. Things can easily be misread, or taken out of context, and time is almost irrelevant here. If someone doesn't post for a week it may have absolutely nothing to do with the conversation. It could range from them actually ignoring you, to being in a car accident, you just don't know.

well i for one think those are rather ignorant responses from the yoejoe site and think he is the bully for not taking in what the Baron is trying to get across to them!

i mean they take over the originals then don't even credit the history of were the figures originated from along with the different versions through the years! How Rude

Goofateer, all good points, but the fact that BFTB Duke isn't listed as an American figure doesn't equate to saying that he is exclusively a British figure, by way of comparison.

Why do people keep thinking I wanted them to rewrite their entire archive? I only wanted them to correct a little mistake.

I disagree about the kindergarten remark.

If their admin can't be arsed rectifying things then why don't they just let someone else take over from them? It wasn't right that another member decided to patronise the Baron the way they did. If they ban me I don't give a damn but Baron does post our work there from the colouring project so it's not fair to ban him temporarily or not.
Spock, where the hell's the power you promised?

and you actually noted where appropriate that the US originated vehicles/figures are of US origins (except for the o-ring Dolphin and Moondancer and Ton-Up)

Yeah, the toy archive is an ongoing project, there are lots of gaps - but if anyone points out a mistake, I say thank you and then I fix it. This Yojoe farce should have been nothing more than that.

The last word.

We went to great lengths to stand up for your projects when vast numbers of collectors said your BFTB comics had no place being included in the YoJoe archives.

You are the one who started the whole situation. Even your own site refuses to meet the same standards you wish to hold against YoJoe.

Simply put. I'm done.

You're waisting my limited time, the resources of my staff and you have generally made yourself out to be the fool.

I believe the YoJoe community to be best served by ending any affiliation or relationship with you, your projects, and clique of cohorts.

You have proven to be a jealous, petty and immature over a trivial and nonsensical issue.

I am disappointed by your behavior, and using your own community to stoke outrage over nothing.

I am extending your suspension to a permanent banning. And should any of your associates conduct themselves in a manner such as you have, they too will be suspended.

All collectors are welcome at YoJoe. All points of view and opinions. But our policy strictly states that we will not tolerate an "us versus them" mentality, and after reading your posts on your forums, that is precisely what I see from you.

Good bye.

And once again you duck the opportunity to give me a simple explanation.

Your claim that BFTB fails to meet my own standards is both nonsensical and wrong - I correct any errors I come across, which is all this situation ever was about. I did not make the error in the Yojoe archive, I simply pointed it out. Bitch and moan all you want, but the blame and responsibility for this farce rests squarely on your shoulders.

Do not belittle my forum members. Many of them are your members too. You do not have any grounds to single them out and penalise them over this issue. Nor do you have the authority or the right to penalise me for any comments made on BFTB. I have not started an "us versus them" campaign. I have not asked anybody to intervene or take sides. I have simply stated the facts without bias by directly quoting our communications, purely to keep my forum members informed. You can deal with me and me alone.

You keep citing lack of respect as a reason for banning Yojoe members. Where was the respect when I pointed out your archives had errors? Where was the respect when I made it clear that you were misquoting me? Where was the respect when I politely and repeatedly asked you for an explanation? Where was the respect when you wrote the original archive template, fully aware that you were neglecting the Action Force connection? You Sir, are a hypocrite.

Our relationship ended yesterday when I severed all ties with you and your racist opinions. To ban me after I have already walked out is empty and meaningless. I have removed all links and ties to Yojoe from BFTB. It's a real shame as we had an excellent relationship for many years. As for my being jealous, that's just laughable. I wouldn't trade places with your mindset for anything.

James Marshall.
