this years Trek movie..
Re: this years Trek movie..
Yes, that is the premise, I didn't mean I don't understand is, I mean it's f*cking stupid.
Nero didn't travel back in time to prevent it from happening, he travelled back to take revenge for something that hadn't happened yet. It would have made sense if he'd used his knowledge to prevent it from happening agian, but he didn't.

Re: this years Trek movie..
a star went supernova and some how threatened 'all life in the galaxy' (yeah, right) and it destroyed Romulus, which Spock was trying to save by dropping Red Matter into the supernova in order to create a black hole to negate the supernova (double yeah, right).
Nero and Spock are some how sucked into the ensuing black hole and wind up time-travelling back to the 23rd century but arrive 25 years apart. (shyeah, right and monkeys might fly out of Irony's ass)
Nero decides to attack a Fed ship just so he can find out the date and where Spock is (??????) before hanging around for 25 years (doing WHAT?) and then captures Spock and sticks him on some frozen ass planet that looks like a moon of Vulcan.
Nero then attacks Vulcan and destroys it. Then the Enterprise arrives and destroys Nero as he decides wth, he'll frag Earth too.
and Kirk is JUST SO f*cking AWESOME that he gets made a captain about a week after getting suspended for cheating on the Kobyashi Maru test.

Yup! Great performances, action, pace, FX, music, but the story is full of holes. The great thing about Trek is that it is all theoretically plausible, and if not plausible then it is still rooted in science (eg the Heisenberg Compensator, Inertial Dampener). Where was the technobabble regarding the origin and properties of red matter? It was pretty much labelled as magic stuff, really not good enough for DS9 fans.
Speaking of which, Ross, have you met the Jem 'Hadar yet?

I want more DS9 as well it's been awhile since I bought the first season. I don't think I have seen much 2nd season.

The story doesn't really pick up until season three (although one and two are essential background development), seasons four to seven are nonstop action. It's my favourite Trek by a mile.

Is Season 2 more about Bajoran politics, religion and Vedek Wynn? I remember an episode with Tom Riker but think that is in Season 3.
