Hmmm... there are plenty of Lego and Zoids tribute sites... I also had a range of Playpeople spacemen - the astronauts had chunky platform boots and the vehicles were very similar to the ships from V

Any word on these?

Yep Beatties went to the wall a while ago now, which was a pity as they were an excellent retailer. All the toys including the likes of Scalextric and Hornby were well stocked and their Croydon and Bromley stores were very good. Also Gamleys has gone too, it seems the Toy shops of my childhood have all gone.

that's a shame they were excellent for all the scalextric bits, i rember buying a motorbike and sidecar for my set when i was youbger, man that flew it was so fast i had trouble keeping it on the track, but i was a bit trigger happy :lol:

Every dedicated local toy shop I knew has gone and of course Woolies has gone too. It's worse over here, where the only two places that sell toys are Wal-Mart and Toys-R-US. Online isn't much better, since we have second-class Amazon in the Great White North (no toys and pay more for less range!). It's like everyone else has given in.
