One of my most vivid memories was thinking I had been ripped off by my own Mother !

I had an original small head Han solo figure and one day I decided to take him to school in my pocket.

My Mother advised me against taking toys to school and assured me I would lose him if I did.

I knew I wouldnt lose him so I took him anyway ...... and lost him !!!

Obviously I was devastated, but after the "I told you so" lecture, my Mother assured me she would buy me another one in town the next day.

Now that really put a smile on my face because I had lost Hans pistol quite a few weeks before, so not only was I getting a new figure ! I was also getting his pistol again too !

Anyway ...... as promised when I got home from school the next day my Mother had a brand spanking new carded Han solo figure for me !

She handed it to me ....... and I looked ..... and I remember being uncomfortable but I smiled and pretended to be happy and trotted off to my bedroom.

I cant remember what words I would have used back then, I just remember feeling betrayed !

I had in my hand a brand new carded Han Solo figure ... but .... he was a mutant !!!

He had a massive head and looked like something from a horror movie ! not only was he the newer, larger head sculpt .... he also had his eyeballs painted slighty off to one side, and his eyebrows were wonky too !

I remember thinking my Mother must have either gone to the "cheap" shop or bought some inferior rubbish from the market ...... this was not Han Solo !

To this day I still have a morbid fear of large head Han Solo figures :-(

We never had AF, but I remember getting my VAM when he was just AM, I can still smell the packaging. I also remember getting my Star Wars guys and then my Toltoys AM's. I'd save my pennies and go to the toy store in a near by town and take hours to decide what I wanted, I could only afford one. That and my Great Aunt always having a new Star Wars figure when we went to Auckland on holidays. I'd be wondering what she got me on the trip. I still have my first, Obi Wan. SteveD secured my Breaker, which was my first AM and of course, the BAF freeby AF figure which was the first AF figure I ever got.

Airtight is a cool figure, I always like Sci Fi too. Weird, but cool. First real GI joe I got would probably have been in 1986, actually got a few that year, Mindbender, Hawk, Iceberg, Lowlight, Roadblock V2, Wetsuit and Zandar. I then proceded to butcher them to make AF's out of them. Not sure what the first one was.

Best memories would be buying the FLAC, MMS and Snow Mobile and my second VAM after the first guy was destroyed on duty. Then battling it out in the back yard, digging trenches etc. Oh, the good ole days.

Damn straight, Bill. As long as it doesn't leave you with a desire to chat up your toys. In retrospect, I don't think that perfume would be a good thing. ;-)

My parents are ex-hippies, so my childhood is one big blur of vivid colours...

I remember buying Destro in the Hasbro packaging with birthday money and being told it was my last toy (yeah right) but anyway it seemed an end of an era my last toy in the last few months we had left in Wigan I was a bit downhearted but loved the look of his mask. I took him everywhere with me I broke the case from over playing with it but I still had Destro to play with that was all that mattered to me. I took him up the road to the park I was by myself at the time when the neighbourhood bully came along and just took him out my hands I went crying home I was told off for taking him out but my Mum took pity and tried to get him back to no avail.
