Actually I'm liking the idea of a giant turntable in the middle of the floor, so you could rotate the display at leisure, put a little switch in by the door and that would be perfect.

You could also save space by hanging your MOC figures from the ceiling on bits of string.

I think you can pack a lot of stuff into that room, without cluttering. The Ikea Billy stuff is pretty good if you ask me. As I say in the other thread, I've used it for my study, in medium coloured wood, and it certainly does the trick - looks very study-esq. In lighter wood or even silver it'd do a cracking job for a collection. You can get the extra shelves to pack more in, doors (that are actually pretty expensive) and lights and stuff to add to it as the years go by. The white range is cheaper, but I also thought it looked cheaper too, so I avoided.

Having said that, by the time you add lights and glass doors it stops being a "cheap solution". My glass cabinets I really like (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them) are from Argos and were about £140 each (pics in the other thread). Lots of glass, not too much wood, mirrors on the backs, lights already in - minimum amount of dusting required for loose stuff, and you can always get more glass to stick some more shelves in than I have. Come in a few different colours too now, and corner units etc. I actually bought them as they perfectly display my other vice - 1/18th scale toy cars - with the full glass doors and mirrors on the backs, and am therefore adopting a full on toy rotation system. There will come a day when the bulk of the AF goes back into boxes (with some favourites going into the smaller "Division 2" corner cabinet - which is currently the home of my lacklustre Star Wars collection) and the cars go in, but certainly not for a good many years yet!

Pack the walls with shelves, get some nice lights, a few cabinets with glass for the loose stuff, and send us all lots of pictures? Z Force V My Little Pony. My money is on the magic horses.

Or if all else fails I'm boarding out the loft this summer, and will gladly look after it all for you?

I have some Star wars pre-production to, some nice cromalins, revenge proofs, and POTF coin stuff.

Why dont you give all the figures to me, and that should help with the space problem.

It sure is, I go for unproduced, rather than pre-production, so here it encompasses both R2 and Logray as they were both unproduced packaging. The two EP1 figures to the left are unproduced on that cardback and have the 2nd generation commtech chips too. I've been lucky to get a fair bit, which is partially the need to the glass containment, but once done, there are a few prototypes that would make Paul weak at the knees

well hurrah for the south, IKEA opened up last Thursday, so the construction can start - well sort of has already, so watch this space. It's a bummer though as for the next two weekends I have a show, which kind of cuts out free time, but we'll get there.

Has anyone wired lights into their Billy's and do they know if it is easy or a ball ache?

when i got my cheapo cabinet from IKEA, the £34 ones, it alread had a hole in the top and you could buy separetly lights that plug into the mains. these were £10 for 2 i think.
