Trying to remember the name of a knock-off Action Man

Post by the enemy muton »

Back in the early/mid 80s a mate of mine had tons of this stuff. The figures were roughly Mego in hight (about 6-8") and were sold in Poundstretchers I seem to recall and came with tons of accessories. Sadly, other than that I can't recall much as we're talking at least 25 years ago. Could they maybe have been made by Mego? It would make sense as it would have been about the time I got my Mego CHIPS set with the motorbike and I'm sure they had very similar bodies and articulation. Can any of you guys (and girls) shed some light on the mystery?

Geyper Man was the Spanish name of A.M. Andy...Cherilea was the company that produced all those tanks, jeeps & my bridge :-D

Remember them really cheap knock-off Action men that were made from that horrible blow moulded lightweight plastic & lasted for about 2 seconds ?

Looks like it could be Palitoy Battle Brigade as some of those figures and uniforms look mighty familiar; would these have still been around in '83/'84-ish?

Those Mego made Lion Rock figures are very good quality t.e.m., back in the day, they may of been sold off cheaply as a knock off but they're certainly are nice to have now a days.

They some times turn up @ toy fairs, they tend to get mixed in with the large boxes of broken, knock off or tatty Action man stuff that get tucked under the dealers stalls in embarrassment.

I remember having some of them cheap 'Action Alan's" as I call them Andy..nasty polythene things with polyester clothing.

I still have an "Action Alan"! He's currently wearing a divers suit, as it nicely hides his flimsy "ken from barbie" look! The wuss!
