Pc Help!

Sorry to hear that. It's the reason I have multiple hard-drives. My C drive contains Windows and Programs and nothing else, I even have a separate drive for my game installations. That way when I need to reformat Windows (which I do routinely to clear the system) I know my data is secure.

is there an idiots guide for things like this?
i know nothin about PCs but what you said makes sense and i want to make sure i dont lose everything again.

for some reason when it comes to technical PC sh*t i cant retain anything i've learned, like a mental block. annoys me as i usually pick things up really quickly.

Probably is in google, I'm self-taught in most things but I'm happy to help. I only know Windows, and I know notihng about laptops. The only issue I can think of with setting up multiple drives is the master and slave jumper setting, and that's dead easy.

No jumpers with Sata, Baron I've seen tons of machines that have been zapped and all the internal drives fried. Not to mention the fact that a hard drive is destined to fail due to the nature of its design. Usually the drive will not fail before its decommissioned, but they do.

Best backup is 2 copies on PC, 1 external drive and optical. Most people don't care that much tho. Like me..... if it fails, it fails. Remind's me, I'd better back up my photo's.

99.9% of laptops will only support a single drive, best option is an external drive for backup.

i think the reality of what i've lost has finally hit.

not worried about the music or movies.
a lot of the scripts i wrote i have paper copies of so no big deal except the "Return of the Baron" story i was workin on but still have most of the details in my head.
lost a lot of art which i'll never be able to replace.

but the thing thats gettin me most is a picture of me holdin my daughter in the palm of my hand about 30 seconds after she was born. havent looked at the pic in years but it was always there. took it on my phone which i got rid of years ago so no way of replacing

my mate managed to get it workin again but it crashed again and again so he replaced the hard drive with a spare he had.
now another mate has told me this is the lazy boy option and if i had taken it to a shop i might've got most of my sh*t back and repaired the harddrive. now like i said i know nuthin but does this sound legit??
he also said he'd be able to replace all the software i lost.

pickin it up tomorrow but what do people here think???
