I had 4 figures ending in the space of 10 minutes the other night. I set up nice and early and the first one ( :afstalker: )- I died on due to system delay, picked up #2 ( :gungho: ) over to #3 ( :breaker: ) which died again, finally stettled back down and got the crank handle out for the golden prize ( :jackal: ) and bagged it!

50% ratio at home - poor!

Damn, that sucks - hope you weren't too disappointed.

I suppose the seven second rule is only any good for a fast net connection.

same here. I also use justsnipe.com for when I am at work or the auction finishes in the early hours.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

i don't wait til the last few seconds, i admit. i tend to bang the bid on with a couple minutes left to make sure i don't forget.

and i've become very pragmatically philospohical: if i win, i win. if i don't, i don't. there's bound to be another...

it's the twonks who bid early and only put on the minimum i can't get my head around, not that i'm complaining...

What is amusing to me anyway is about 20 mins ago there was a series 1 carded Sas figure on eBay I'm currenly using the iPhone as I can't be bothered to fire up the computer, with 1min to go I put my bid in and watched the countdown and waited for the snipe with 6 seconds left the snipe went in and I won anyway by 20 pence, if I was the sniper I'd be mad right now :-D

..admittedly I didn't use the 7 second rule. More like 5 seconds...

That'll teach me.
