Post by Thundershot »

:-D Result, charity shop find of the week..
I found this lot hidden away amongst loads of old issues of 2000AD Eagle & Lion comics from the mid to late 80's,

The old Hasbro Action Force ad's are really nicely done & still look impressive even today.

From the 10.12.88 issue of Eagle & Mask, was this the :af: replacement strip?

One of the :af: comics is dated 3 days before a work colleague was born..& it must be said it's in a lot better shape than he is

Storm Force was the replacement and if memory serves me correctly it wasn't very good :-(
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

Yes it is, I thought they were alright. Would have made a great toy line.

Thanks, I thought it may of been..have to say, after reading the Eagle comic, apart from Johnny Red & Charlie's War, to my taste from the story telling point of view the stories seem very juvenile compared to the Marvel comics plot lines & characterization, especially the toy licensed stuff.

I'm don't know who did the artwork for one of the Mask stories, but it looks a lot like the B.A.F. story art wise..even down to the look of the people & clothing involved...the main female villain looks like :scarlett: with a new hair do .

I used to play Storm Force with my Star Wars figures and wished they were out as toys.

Actually I'm tempted to make up some customs. As I recall the Mole Mahcine was the spitting image of the ROC drill machine thingy.

I don't remember that but the Mole reminded me of Professor X. I used a RoC Scarlett in Reactive Impact Armour for a custom with her hair black she would make a good Stiletto or whatever the SF woman was codenamed.

I do remember being very disappointed the first time I read the stories, missed all the AF stuff really. I still have all my Eagles and BAF's at my mum's must reclaim them sometime.
