A self indulgent whinge
So, I decided I would clear out the spare room and use it as a collection room - some cheap flooring, and some Ikea shelves, should only cost a couple of hundred quid and it will be a better use than just the general crap storage it is being used for at the moment.
Anyway, me and the old man drive out to Ikea to pick up the shelves; I know what I want - Besta in beach, same as I already have. Guess what? 'Sorry this item is not buyable ('buyable', is that even a real word? the spell checker doesn't think so and nor do I) and is not available for home delivery.' WTF? If it had even been discontinued that would be annoying, but 'yeah we make it still, but you can't have it anymore.'
Fair enough, I can always get another finish, or another style, for the spare room but what about the stuff I've already bought? I wanted to extend my TV unit, but now I can't buy a matching extension unit, so I will have to either have mismatching units are start from scratch and buy everything again in matching finish, but why should I when I have spent money already?
Like I said, it's a self indulgent whinge but I just needed to vent.
(And relax).

On the other hand, the postie delivered a load of toys this morning so swings and roundabouts, eh?
Re: A self indulgent whinge
I have exactly the same scenario at the minute! My study is done in Ikea's dark wood stuff. Full arrangement of 5 bookcases, fitted beautifully by my own fair hand into the corner, full lin of DVD cases along the other wall - jobs a good un - looks really well. Although now it's full, and I need some more. So I went online - no longer available! So I went to the store - " we do it in black, or light beech, but not that colour anymore". Despite them telling me when I bought it all just last year that it would always be available in that colour so I could add to it at any time! The Bastards!!!!
And I dont like the missus suggestion - "get rid of some DVDs"

Get rid of.... what was she thinking? Same thing as my missus I suppose.
I have 2 DVD shelves loaded and overflowing in the lounge, and do you think I can get another to match. Pfftt.
I had a roundabout arrive in the post today too..... ACTION MAN....... still waiting for some AF. Swings and roundabouts.....

Exactly! The whole point of buying from Ikea is that you can just add to it at any time when needed and not worry about stuff being discontinued 6 months later; or so I thought ...SteveD wrote:I have exactly the same scenario at the minute! I think what is really bugging me though is that I was looking forward to getting my figures out of storage
