Thunderbirds are...

Post by Thundershot »

...Restored :-D

I'm well happy with this, after a few hours of work with paint stripper & a can of green spray paint, I've got a nice condition Dinky Toys Thunderbird 2, it was it in a terrible state whenI 1st purchased it.. as the previous owner had re-painted it using Humbrol matt black

 I should of taken a photo of it before I got the paintstripper to it really...honestly, the best thing one could say about it was all the bits were still there.

To be more like the orignal Dinky paint job,it should have the engine intakes painted in red & the windows picked out in silver, but I'm happy with this as it stands @ the moment :-D

Thanks for looking
T'shot

Great restoration T'shot. When I was a kid I had the blue Thunderbird 2, which I later swapped for the large Corgi James Bond Aston Martin, which had the ejector seat broken and no bandit! One of the swaps I now regret and I know it was the wrong colour, but I'd love to get a blue one back one day!

Hi all,
Thanks for the compliments guys, Red Baron this was the blue version originally too...as much as I love that shade of metallic blue Dinky painted it, I just couldn't bring myself to use any other colour except green. The Bond Aston Martin has to be one of the coolest toy cars ever made, easily up there with the Bat-mobile on the Cool wall :-D
