Charity shop bargain of the week..

Post by Thundershot »

Hi all,
I had a superb lucky find in a small out of town charity shop earlier this week, got this little beauty for the princely sum of £3.99 :-D

Just needed a good clean up with a damp cloth, sadly one of the foot pegs has broken off the flags missing, but as you can see it displays rather nicely:

I've also treated this guy to a better set of webbing too, adding the bread bag & holster, which I think looks much improved over the orginal issue belt:

Thanks for looking,

Nice, lucky find. I don't buy Action Man, but I'd have bought that. It's always these little excitements that make collecting good fun, at least once your content with your main collection . . . up until then it's a pain competing with others for things you want and getting tense about getting all the bits you want in the bext condition (or is that just what I'm like when I build a collection?)

Hi Red Baron,
I don't feel like I'm in a competition with others when it comes to collecting this stuff, best not to really.. just be happy with what you do have & try not to be jealous of what lack & others have, otherwise where's the fun in it?

It's the unexpected finds like this that make this hobby so enjoyable isn't it? What made this one so lucky is the fact that a customer I'd delivered to the day before had given me a £5 tip ( a very rare occurrence) "To buy yourself a drink with" I'm tea total :. l so it bought this. :-D

I normally wouldn't of picked up something as big like this, as sadly I don't have the room for vehicles, but this was in such nice condition & cheap I couldn't resist..about 90% of my collection is in storage in the loft, due to lack of display space , that's why I try to photograph every thing now.. so that I can see everything in a kind of virtual toy museum & share it with other people via this site, I love seeing what all you other guys have in your collections & enjoy seeing 'em.

Yes, I think I need a virtual display cabinet. I have a room full of James Bond stuff (which I've been collecting for many years), so Action Force hasn't got its own home just yet. My friend gave me a couple of Action Men and an armoured car recently, which was nice - one German Stormtrooper (no helmet or MP40 sadly) and the other I bought a battledress for to go with the jerkin it came with.

By the way, I didn't really mean competing in a nasty way (wouldn't want people here to think I'm like that). I sort of meant that there is a natural desire as a collector to want to try and get nice items at good prices, which always means someone else who wants something doesn't. I'm sure we all get outbid on things on eBay, but I never wish the competion any ill :skip:

I'll see what I can do, although having moved last year there's still several boxes in there making it hard to get decent pictures. It's also currently the home of my custom activity, so if I do get some decent pictures you'll probably see soem Action Force stuff as well!

Don't do it Eddie, I've only got a 30 year head start....your Action-man collection would out number my Action men ten to one by Christmas. ;-)

Why not start collecting Action Alans instead?
