I have an old Action Man novel from about 1982 and in the story AM teams up with his American colleague GI Joe, Joseph Colton.
Another interesting thing about the GI Joe 3 3/4" figure that you posted, is that his head is based on the same (60s or 70s?) 12" head that the majority of the Action Force figures are based on.
His jawline is broader and his beret flatter looking but his head could be used for a custom Skip!
(Although he's probably too rare to use as custom fodder)
