The Spirit (2008 film)
I am watching The Spirit right now on Sky Premier. I can't make sense out if it has anyone else seen it if so what did you make of it?
Spock, where the hell's the power you promised?

I got to the point where some bloke saved a girl from muggers, gave up there.
Re: The Spirit (2008 film)
Well as a release, it got totally panned and unlike the weeks and weeks of showings for Avatar, it only had 10 days showing at the cinema in the UK in all reality (no wonder some films never get a chance at the box office).
As for what it is about and is it any good? Personally for me it's total style over substance - like one long music video with director indulgences of cool effects, fit women, hardboiled/'40s styling and a healthy dollop of Spirit mythology. So it's throwaway but I enjoyed it... mainly as the Spirit and his adventures are amongst my fave in the comic book world. So I'm a fan.
Random fact: I'm lucky enough to have a signed poster from all the cast and crew courtesy of some US contacts at the time of release and some cash towards charity... but yeah, it's kinda crazy as a movie. Like I say, some of it looks cool but the story is a bit whack.

I can see the style of Sin City in it but I think I prefer Sin City maybe having read it helps as well I haven't read any version of The Spirit.

It's been a long time since I've seen the movie, but they is one cool looking figure from the toy line I like the look of, Ambush
Shadow which is made from clear plastic & has a black fabric cape..the toy line bombed & they turn up from time to time @ really cheap prices.
Sorry, I'm getting it confused with the "Shadow" which another bad film all together...but characters are very similar

More news, as its made, from new Action Force!

i've heard it's a load of tosh. and that Frank Millar ruined The Spirit.
i'd only bother with it for Eva and Scarlett...

I made the missus watch The Shadow on ITV4 the other night, her basic reaction was "what's this sh*t?"Thundershot wrote:Sorry, I'm getting it confused with the "Shadow" which another bad film all together...but characters are very similar

Not seen the Spirit yet but it's on my list of films to see. Love Frank Miller and I'm interested in seeing his directing style.

it's like Michael Bay without the cool 'splosions and with weird colour. apparently.
