Red Dwarf was on B.B.C 2 @ around 9 p.m. on Fridays, but if I remember correctly, the 1st ever series was on B.B.C.1 @ around 8:30 pm, Chelmsford 123, had much later time-slot on Channel 4.. the writers of Chelmsford originally came up with the idea to prove to their parents that studying Latin @ university wasn't a waist of time & that one could make money speaking it. Thier production company has since become one of the most succesful T.V. producers in the U.K. earning them lots of money indeed.
More news, as its made, from new Action Force!

don't think Red Dwarf ever aired on BBC1. IIRC it was always on BBC2 at 9 or 9:30

Yes sundance is correct, red dwarf was always shown BBC 2, when naylor and grant first wrote the show beeb 2 were the only ones who showed any interest.

Monkfish wrote:Chopper, I've been working through both series of Chelsmford on youtube. Wish they'd done a dvd release. Introduced the missus to it last year and she can't be bothered with it - keeps calling it a poor man's Blackadder. I still prefer Red Dwarf, maybe less knob gags and belly laughs, but for me the main characters were deeper.

Ironblood, I'm pretty sure that it wasn't in Red Dwarf's timeslot, but went out at 10:30pm - well at least for one run of it.
It was on about 8pm in NZ ;-) I think it pre-dates Blackadder tho? I loved the Latin in it, especially the first episode and the Dr Who Cameo. Its different humour to Red Dwarf but I think it would be reminiscent of the era too, lets face it raping and pillaging was pretty prevalent in 123 ad.

Yeah, Blackadder was earlier. I remember the 'I can't quite believe they're letting me watch this' feeling when Blackadder II first aired, with Chelmsford turning up around the time that the odd crafty pint or three was being secured down the local.

You need to incorporate the original wikipedia page Ba4.jpg into your post, Ironblood.
